Honors ,v - SX I . -ggi, 'U Top: This year Lanier added an Anderson High School Tradition, by participating in Afro day. The object of this day was to provide a better understanding ot African culture. The contest held on Afro day had a panel of judges to choose the students with the most original costumes. The winners were: IL-FD: Michael Johnson, Michele Lee, Edward Shelby, Juanita Moore, Jean Moffett, and Ken- neth Lewis, with Michael Johnson and Michele Lee chosen as Mr. and Miss Afro, Left: Gayle Manning was one of seven Austin high school students cho- sen by the Daughters of the American Revolution as DAR. good citizen, This award is based on leadership, scholarship, and citizenship. Above right: Each year the Altrusa Club chooses a Junior girl to honor for outstanding contrib- utions to her school and to the community.
