THE VIKING BANDS A new sysTem was esTablished This year. The Viking Band spliT inTo Two, and The Gold and WhiTe Bands oT Lanier emerged. The Two bands worked in The hoT blazing sun oT Au- gusT, preparing Tor TooTball season. ln No- vember, The bands came back Trom Brenham, vicTorious wiTh a ifl raTing aT U.l.L. March- ing ConTesT. The annual ChrisTmas dance was a success, and MargareT ShorT and ScoTT Ellis were named Band SweeThearT and Beau. The Freshman and VarsiTy Bands played a number oT concerTs ThroughouT The year. ln The Spring, many Band members worked exTra hard in preparing Tor U.I.L. Solo and Ensem- ble ConTesT.
