Ed Mayes speaks of the opponent . . . while Randy Peschel puts in a word of appreciation for coaches and fans . . . and Craig Robinson predicts another Viking victory. Texas Fight brings everyone to his feet to honor Coach Emerson Speec es... Lanier students will treasure those Friday morning gatherings known as Pep Rallies. The cheerleaders, band and Vikettes were there early to practice and prepare for the rest of the stu- dent body. At 8:30, the gym was filled with yelling Vikings, Battle-cries, drum cadencesj and Fight mingled with the new School Yell and old favorites such as Stomp Clap . . . In the afternoon, the band marched down the halls playing the Fight Song to complete the big day. Twirlers... Coach Emerson talks about last week's game . . . and Mr. Matthys concludes with a good word for everyone.

Linda Sikes and Betty Martin smile for the cameraman as Brenda Tegarden diligently continues painting. Yields September Satisfaction. The cheerleaders attended a camp then returned to paint signs and prepare for the opening of school. During football season, Vikings were treated to the treasure of spirited banners en- couraging the footballers to Beat Everybody. Viking Band members Watch the Pep Rally in front of the biggest sign of all. Cheerleaders lead the team through the anvil drawn by johnny Allen. l65

1 ll Cheerleaders Vicky, Brenda, Lillie, Linda, Betty, Sharon, and Cherie lead the school song to traditionally close the Pep Rally. B a n d s. . . Brenda Tegarden and Lillie Driska yell with the entire school before the San Marcos game. 4YeIIs... Twirlers Sue, Sandy, and Randag and Drum Major, Carolyn lead the band. Thrall S-teve Rode laughs at Geneva Kreig as the band marches around and through the school. Students and Cheerleaders yell for their favorite team. Witch Maritia Priddy hexes the Lampasas team as the band and cheer- leaders look on. Cheerleader Sweetheart johnny Garner is honored at the Gatesville Pep Rally. wg 5.-
