Ed Mayes speaks of the opponent . . . while Randy Peschel puts in a word of appreciation for coaches and fans . . . and Craig Robinson predicts another Viking victory. Texas Fight brings everyone to his feet to honor Coach Emerson Speec es... Lanier students will treasure those Friday morning gatherings known as Pep Rallies. The cheerleaders, band and Vikettes were there early to practice and prepare for the rest of the stu- dent body. At 8:30, the gym was filled with yelling Vikings, Battle-cries, drum cadencesj and Fight mingled with the new School Yell and old favorites such as Stomp Clap . . . In the afternoon, the band marched down the halls playing the Fight Song to complete the big day. Twirlers... Coach Emerson talks about last week's game . . . and Mr. Matthys concludes with a good word for everyone.

The cheerleaders attended a camp then returned to paint signs and prepare for the opening of school. During football season, Vikings were treated to the treasure of spirited banners en- couraging the footballers to Beat Everybody.
