Lanier Student Council The student council of Lanier High School has proved itself to be the organization that holds the school together in purpose, spirit, and activities. Through the years the student council, sponsored by Mr. Forrest Kline, has tried to represent the student body of Lanier in the school, city, and state. The 1965-66 Council sponsored the annual Homecoming Dance with the presentation of Homecoming Queen and Princesses in the fall. The Christmas Dance, Western Day, Howdy Books, Western Dance, and the presentation of Lanier's Friendliest and Class Favorites were all sponsored by the Student Council. 5-I Academically, two 3150.00 scholarships were given to deserving seniors to further their educations. Participation in the Inter-City Student Council included a system of 1 having visitors from other student councils come to Lanier meetings. Each year this organization gives a service award to the member who has served the most hours for the school. Members of the Valkyries are junior and senior girls who have at least a B average, have passed a march- ing test, and have received a good recommendation from their teachers.
