YW f C 4327 vf':.'7 X lllllEllA LA At the beginning ot this year one hundred fifty two Veterans had returned to Lanier with a dogged determination to finish their high school education They are enrolled under the Veterans Training Program Most of them saw overseas service and three or four received wounds In the service of their country The Veterans Department is under the capable supervision of Mr P L Woodham There are tour other teachers includlng Mr J E Gordon Mr G C Robinson Mr J B instruction in the department Courses of study open to the veterans are math business arithmetic English history biology physiology and economics When a student thinks he is ready to take a es or examination he may do so As soon as he has acquired the necessary credits he has completed his high school education Not all the veterans are Montgomerlans There are a few students who live through out the state but board In town so that they may attend Lamer It is the chief aim of the Veterans Department at Lamer to orient the Veteran in the practice of good citizenship Education IS intrinsically more than factual learning It is indeed the whole process through which the little human animal is trained to be a social being The Veteran though he merits lt should not be treated with extraordinary prlvi leges He should be treated as a normal citizen This is a mann purpose of the Veterans Department at Lamer and so far they have done very well Page 21 T J g if T ,Y y, X X -,Sa X , i 4 t X , X ff c Rutland, and Mr. J.
