We found many of our classmates on the streets. WILEY DOUGHTY and LARRY FLOYD are holding a raffle with chances to win an all-expense paid trip aboard the beautiful Titanic II. PATRICIA EDWARDS and BETTY GREEN are finger painting stripes on the streets and THOMAS CUNNINGHAM, TYRONE HOLMAN, TONI PRINCE, IERALYN ROGERS, GAIL SCOTT, DEBORAH SCOTT, LINDA HENRY, MILLICENT BAYLOR, CLAUDETTE MOORE, and MICHAEL CARLEE are just sitting on the curb. Each of them fought in the battle of wits and lost. At the Bluebird-2.-go-go-Lounge, where CATHY THOMAS is singing, DELSA LINDSEY, VICKIE DAVIS, HAZEL HUNTER, JEANIE GAINES, and DARLENE FRAZIER were frozen in grotesque positions after their joints got stuck while trying to do the dances they did as Rho Alpha Sorority sisters. There, with them, was their sweetheart, RODERICK HUCKABEE, still wearing his same grin with the minor exception that he's now completely toothless. Some more adventurous Bessemer residents recently formed a balloon caravan to circle the world in 81 days. Included in the caravan were BARBARA LYNCH, RONALD LATIMORE, SANDRA CARTER. JANICE ARNOLD and SUZY KILPATRICK. They left Bessemer 43 days ago and were last spotted over downtown Birmingham . Though we didn't get to meet with all of our old classmates we did, however, find out what they were doing. Here are the bits and pieces: CHRIS THOMAS went to his orthodontist, DR. GREGORY WATKINS, to have his braces removed after all these years, only to find out they had been permanently attached. RONEE THOMPSON has, to date , entered a total of 6,431 beauty contests and is still looking for more. ROBERT JEMISON is now captain of a new basketball team called the Bessemer Wild-Ones. SANDRA FULLER hasn't grown an inch and has landed a job with Keebler Co. baking cookies in trees. PHILLIP PROSSER, along with the help of his assistant DORIS PEDDE, won a Nobel Prize for inventing penny candy that sells for a penny. Q DOREEN PERKINS and CAROLYN DIAL, ex-bank tellers at JLHS are now ex-employees at lst National Bank. They were fireh for trying to embezzle. SHERRY DICKEY , MARY FOLKER, and SANDRA FORD were all jailed for cheating the IRS. Sherry copied so intently that she signed her paper with the name of the person from whom she was copying. And VALERIE HICKS, ROSALIND LANIER, and SANDRA WILLIAMSON are filling out forms to enter the Olive Oyl Look- Alike Contest. The old police sirens have been replaced, we noticed, by JACK WHISENHUNT who sits on top of Security Guard TERRI WES- SON's car while she patrols TIMMY TINDLE's Fashion Boutique. Of course this job wou1dn't be complete without first visiting our old high school, Jess Lanier, where surprisingly enough we found the ICSI of our schoolmates. MARIE ARFLIN took Chucky Jr. down to enroll him and was seen talking to LORETTA RIGDON who has finally landed Mrs. Belew's job after 20 years of waiting. Loretta said she was looking for PAUL WRIGHT's transcripts so he will be able to graduate in the year 2000. We found out SALLIE VINES is the new band director with BOBBY USHER, TAMMY STONE, and CEDRIC STEVENS, as assistants. RANDY BUNN is principal: WAYNMON SIMPSON is Athletic Direc- tory JANET JOHNSON is the new librariang CHUCK NAGLE teaches Humanities Ilg BETH RANDALL teaches typing and DOUG BURNS is the lunchroom manager. JIMMY GEORGE and VANESSA FULLER are the school's janitors and have been for the past 20 years. And to wrap up our study of the Graduating Class of '77 we heard that TERRY DeFOOR and MIKE DENNIS were last seen two years ago entering a girls dormitory and have not come out yet. CLASS PROPHECY This is CHRIS DANIEL, PAM SHORT, JAY BROWN and BRUCE HENDERSON doing an indepth research on the Graduating Class of '77 at Jess Lanier High School. It's been exactly 20 years since we departed from Lanier and we thought it would be interesting to see what our fellow graduates are now doing. Many of our classmates were adventurous and still are. For instance DAVID ALLEY has just returned from hunting elephants in Africa. Though he didn't get an elephant, he did find missionaries ANGELA COLLUM and GWEN CULWELL trying to teach brotherly love to the cannibals. Also it has been reported that a tribe of gypsies led by LEWIS MATHEWS is moving through the South. Among his followers are ALONZO HOLLAND, KEN CUNNINGHAM, ELSIE WILLIAMS, VERA BOYKINS, DEBORAH BILL- UPS, and MELVIN BENNETT, all in search of the Fountain of Youth. How about this for adventurous? Sheik TIM GEESLING added three more girls to his harem today. LINDA DICKEY, TORY DURDEN, and TONI GIARDINA are the lucky girls. They make an even 500. Speaking of sheiks, MATT SELF is still touring Europe with his harem . It wasn't hard to find President JAN LAZENBY. She's in Washington with her Cabinet. GLORIA WASHINGTON is Secretary of Affairs, LELDON LOCKART is Secretary of Defense, and MICHAEL SANDERS is Secretary of the Treasury. SHARON SMITH and RANDY WATSON are also in Washingtong she is a senator and he is her secretary . You can pick up any fashion magazine and see top models JULIA HAGERTY, MARTHA HAYNES, DAVID LAWLEY, and SHEL- TON IVEY modeling today's look: potato sacks! ! Remember how athletic some of our classmates were? Well, many have chosen the field of sports. BECKY KING is the World's Woman Wrestling Champion. Soon she will go against opponent CHERYL VICTORY. The Women's Olympic Basketball Team has recruited four of our former classmates. They are CHARLOTTE SEALS, WREN BRASHER, and KATHELEEN PERKINS, with TERRY WINNINGHAM playing center. And in an auditorium we found LISA KIDD receiving the Golden Glove Slugger of the Year Award! But the Class of '77 is not without a Super Star. TERESA TURNER is our female Bobby Riggs. Always with her to cheer her on to victory are her cheerleaders BOBBY WILLIAMS CCaptainj, WILLIAM WILKES and SAMUEL SIMS. In our search for our fellow classmates we found ourselves in a Hollywood studio where DARLENE MCGADNEY and JACQUE- LINE McSHAN, known for their violent tempers, were starring in a movie called The Grapes of Wrath. In another part of the studio we found MICHAEL GODWIN and SHARON GRAY, PATRICIA GRISWOLD and ANNIE DUNSON as the Pippettes. And in a local Hollywood Funeral Parlor JUDY NEVETT and ANNETTE BOWDEN were seen weeping over the bodies of their billionaire husbands, who died three days after the wedding ceremony. Rev. STEVE LOYD conducted both weddings and funer- als. Many of our fellow graduates decided to stay in and around Bessemer. The BESSEMER NEWS, for instance, is now being edited by JEFF WILSON and SHARON SHORT, and with the circus in town they have a lot to write about. The circus was formed by DEBRA COURTNEY and CARLA BOWLIN and is called the Ms. Circus. The daring young men on the flying trapeze are none other than MIKE MOBLEY, RUSTY MORRIS, ANTHONY PIPPEN and MICHAEL LACY SELMAN. They'd be great if they just weren't afraid of heights and looked better in tights. Other familiar faces belong to DONNY BEARD and MITCHELL BATES who are the lion tamer and lion, respectively. And what circus would be complete without clowns to keep the crowds roaring? Ms. Circus has two, RICKY HOLLOWAY and KEITH KUHN, but instead of roaring the crowds are snoring. Several new stores have appeared in Bessemer, Pop's Candy Shop owned and operated by RANDY ELLENBURG and D.G. D. owned by ANDREA DERAMUS ARONIA GRICE and VEDIA DUMAS. Bessemer has also added the BENNETTE YELLING Mental Hospital with MICHAEL LINWOOD SELMAN as it's latest addition. He cracked up after he found out that the Civil War is really over, but he won't be lonesome because MARY THOMAS, GINA BARBOUR and FRAN NARO have previously been committed. The head nurse is ZELDA WEDGEWORTH . MARSHA JACKSON, YVONNE LEWIS and CYNTHIA DENSON opened a charm school here and enrolled as their own first students. They flunked! In the courthouse we found Judge BETH BRITTON sentencing GAIL SHORT to 20 years for robbing MARK SAXON'S Bar and Grill. LINDA DUNN has set up a Driving Academy and her star pupil is Sister MONICA CUNNINGHAM. Speaking of driving, TAMMY BAKER is the 21st century Evel Knievil. Her new stunt is to try to fly over Division Ave. 230
