Homecoming Day Was Wonder- 5 ,. I ful From Beginning fo End To start the day off right, the band worked on their show with the home- coming court. All day the halls appeared to be purple and white, as many got in the spirit by dressing appropriately. More pepping up the team was done than studying. Finally the climax came when the pep rally arrived. Miss Nabors was presented a dozen roses and almost that many embraces from the Varsity Cheerleaders for being their sponsor. Then the winner of the Poster Contest, Ray Cunningham, was awarded five dollars for his artis- tic show of spirit. The cheering mob almost resembled a church congrega- tion as they became silent for the procession of the court. The possible queens, with all the grace they could muster, strolled in their pattern around the gym floor. After the promenade, the pep rally reached a cli- max in spirit! Tiger Rag brought the rally and school to a close before the spirit could decline. if .F-iss V fr., , 1 Q if K I bisisi

Sophomores Captured Display Prize While Linda Sims began her reign as the 1976 Homecoming Queen The floats were assembled between three and five- thirty and the judging took place immediately after- ward. A good crowd came to see Lanier slaughter Druid. After a wonderfully one-sided first-half, Mr. Long cleared his throat and announced that the Sopho- mores won the display contest with their slogan Flying Tigers Attack! ! Dragons Surrender! The Juniors cap- tured second place with their title Tigers puff the Dragons. The Seniors were hard to beat with the pop- ular theme Tigers Gonna Have It Their Way! The Freshmen got a good start at Lanier with their float say- ing Tigers Send Dragons Into Orbit. The tension could be seen on the girls' faces as Carla Bowlin and Kassandra Daniels were announced as tied for first run- nerup. Then the magic second had arrived when one of the twenty girls would be THE QUEEN and the rest would just be the court. Flower petals went everywhere when Linda Sims became the 1976 Homecoming Queen for Jess Lanier High School. The night ended in victory and the whole school was in a good mood until . . . K.
