“O2 ,...l '+- '11 CQ' '51 C2 v-I Erickson who, I found, drove like a maniac!!! Berna said she got her job after Lem threw her over for Pat Brydges when Lem refused to wear his new long-flannel underwear. Berne said Lem sojourned to Alaska after graduation and told Berne to supply him with red flannels. She couldn't do this because of her low paying job, so Lem had been seeing Pat Brydges. I asked Berna where Brydges lived soshe drove me to the waterfront. I wondered if Pat were going down to sea in ships. I soon found out. As we pulled up,I noticed a girl throw a fish net over the side and then dive into the water in an attempt to scare the fish into her net. I had seen that it was Pat and figured that she was going down to the sea in fish instead of tg fish. It all was proving too much so I asked Berna to take me home. After I got home, it was too early to go to bed so I decided to go for a ride on m bicycle. I had ridden pretty far when I came to the steepest hill on Whidbey and started hitting a mighty pace. I was go- ing faster and faster till all of a sudden my brakes locked and I went flying straight at a farm house beside the road. As I landed, I nadea big splash in what I immediately found was a pig pen. I pulled myself out and started walking toward the house. I noticed about ten little kids peeking around each corner. There in the middle stood Marian Ehuley washing out, some of Gary's imported diapers. She had a baby strapped on her back. As I glanced in the house, there sat Johnny Erikson Cthey had just had twinsl with another baby watching the basketball star All American Charlie Bennett on T.V. Before they noticed me, I decided to stroll to the beach and get cleaned up. I saw a big ship at the dock where servicemen were going on and off. It was then that I noticed Robin Christoe and Donna Hasch tenderly kissing. It looked as though Robin had jwmsreturned and as though Donna were still waiting patiently for her sailor boys when they come and go. Glancing to my left, I saw Marlene Engstrom with tears running down her cheeks as she fondly bid farewell to her lover-boy, Jerry Saylor, as he departed for unknown places. Just then the Captain, James Wallace, hollered, UCut the necking, you swabs, or I'1l have m first mate, Jim Smith, throw you in the booby hatchln Out of the corner of my eye I saw something moving rapidly down the beach. As it came closer, I saw that it was they. They stopped as they saw me and guess who they were, Coach Dave Braathen training his track star, Della, for the Olympic team that year. The beach was getting pretty well smoothed down by this time, and Dave was raring to try out his new hotrod on his personal Aurora Speed- way. With this, it seemed to me I had had enough adventure so I wearily moved m sore feet back towards home.
