Student Council This year the Student Council was supervised by Miss Carol Bailey, Activi- ties Director. Working with her were the officers of the student body and one representative from each homeroom, They were all kept busy serving the school in this important way. The year began with the sale of Activity Tickets. A powderpuff football game was held, with proceeds given to Student Council. Gifts and baskets of food were collected and given to needy families in the area at Christmas. Dances were held for worthy causes. Cookies were sentto the boys from the Langley area serving in Viet Nam. The year was filled with projects sponsored by Student Council - all of them for the betterment of the school and its citizens. The 1965-66 Student Council officers are, standing: George Pfender, president, Joanne Turnbull, vice-president, Darlene Washington, secretary, Richard Rizzutto,jr. vice-president.Seated is Mary Alice Burns, treasurer. 28

The main job of the Student Council is to govern the student body. This purpose is fulfilled through meetings with the officers and homeroom repre- sentatives. George Pfender, president of the school, presides over these meetings. 1: qubs The Canteen is run by the Student Council, also. With the help of students like J. Jessep and D, Street, refreshments are made available to spectators of all home football and basketball games. D Washington buys an Act1v1ty Ticket from K Kotarski and N. Koerbel, members of the sales committee. One of the most worthwhile projects that the Student Council sponsored this year was the Litter Bug Campaign . Litter bugs were made in the art classes and then were mounted and hung throughout the school. Barry Arlet, committee chairman, is pictured with one of these posters. The project had notable effect in cleaning up Langley's corridors. 29
