Coming to school with your friends on cold mornings? . . . racing downthe halls to get to class before the first shift tardy bell rang? . . . struggling through courses of math? . . . working your way into the business world? . . . the mass confusion between classes? Remember all the notes required for AmericanDemocracy? . . . the mad scientists experimenting twice a week? . . . letting off steam in the cafeteria? . . . those hectic gym periods? . . . a tense moment of the basketball game? How will you remember Langley? Perhaps the traditional ivy-covered walls will stand foremost in your thoughts. Or maybe it will be of all the little things which made the high school years a collection of unforgettable moments, as well as a time for learning. Whatever the reason, it is clear that Langley will be remembered by all her students--having exchanged past years for priceless memories. g 1 5 3 f 5 1 1 1 1 1ls1f rs,z2i L 4 ACU LTY The Faculty found the 1965--66 school year to be unique, For the first time in Langley's history the students and teachers came to school in three shifts. The Juniors and Seniors came in the first shift which started at 7:50 and ended at 2:25. The Freshmen and Sophomores began school at 8:40 and were finished by 3:15. The remaining underclassmen started at 9:45 and were dismissed at 4:05. Each student went directly to his first period class rather than reporting to a homeroom as had been done in the past. A ten minute break between the second and third periods was set aside for taking the attendance and for any other homeroom business . All clubs and organizations met after the club sponsor's last period class. The Administration and Faculty must now, more than ever, stand tall and set the examples for the students to follow. The job is immense but their talents are many, Success is the only outcome if they are able to con- tinue in the future as they have in the past. - ,gig ,. .- , -' ,I-f 4, , Q! -W, - wg M w F p N ,. f ff, vs? As Vice-Principal of the senior school, he handled most of the disciplinary problems of the students. Mr. Robert Angelo has been the Principal of Langley Jr.-Sr. High School for the past three years. During this time he has supervised many changes in Langley's program and has worked very hard to keep the school running smoothly. His warmth and friendliness have been an im- portant part of his success and account for much of his popularity with the faculty and student body. The biggest change in this year's program was the procedure of attend- ing school in shifts. This came about as a result of the increasing enrollment of each new class. Many new teachers were added to the faculty list so that the number of students in each classroom was kept to the smallest possible number. Mr. James Dickson, Vice-Principal of the junior school, was a friend to all of the students and faculty members, as well as an important part of the Administration. , -. 5 . . Becoming a part of the senior school meant many new op- portunities to serve the school and take part in senior school activities. The girls were permitted to try out for positions on the cheerleader and ma- jorette squads for the following year and those boys who were interested, were given the chance to try out for the Varsity athletic teams. Auditions for the A Choir included many Sopho- mores as well as auditions for the Band and Orchestra. The year pro- vided a small taste of what the re- maining two years at Langley will be like. It has been said that a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. The Sophomores have . wr-A U11 ,ri xl. 4' ?.'i5V-35511. This past school year was no ex- ception and followed much the same pattern as in other years. The sale of Activity Tickets paved the way for participation in extra-curricular ac- tivities, as the various clubs began getting organized, A Student Coun- cil, consisting of representatives from every homeroom, was set up and through this, the students' opin- ions and desires were made known, New uniforms for the Majorettes and Cheerleaders added sparkle to the excitement of the football sea- son, as the late fall activities came swiftly. Plans for the Homecoming Dance were being made while the Seniors searched for prospective buy- ers of Class Play tickets. The Stu- dent Council Christmas Project was once again a huge success and so the New Year came. The end of the first semester was warmly greeted by all, as slight indications of spring activities be- gan taking shape. The competition, both in the track meets and baseball games, was intermixed with the glow- ,ing thoughts of the Junior-Senior Prom. Graduation rounded off the activities for the year, as the students, were once again vacation-bound, Extra-curricular activities are an important part of Langley High School's program, The benefits of a well rounded education are many-- and for this reason, Langley strives to keep the Student Life active. 1 l 5 af .l .4-2, ii' , . The en- thusiasm remalns the same all year as they cheer the Mustangs through the basketball season. Under the direction of Miss Carol Miller, the cheerleaders practice for many hours after school, as well as on summer evenings, at least three times a week. Their new uniforms this year added much to their ap- pearance. The job of the cheerleaders is to build up school spirit not only by their actions on the field but also by their citizen- ship in school. JU IDRS The Junior Class found that the addition of another year meant more responsibilities as well as more privileges. Officers were chosen to handle the affairs of the class and to work out any problems that might arise. January came slowly, but sure enough the class rings ,arrived and found their way onto almost every Junior's hand, The most memor- able event of the year, the Junior Prom, came with painstaking slow- ness. Once it had arrived though, the soft lights and music faded into memories all too quickly. On Senior Day, the traditional black and White appeared on every Junior classman in mourning for the Graduating Class of 1966. Another year now gone, the cher- ished dream of becoming a Senior is but one step away. That step will mark the beginning of even- more responsibilities and privileges. Each will add something to the character of the student and help to prepare him for a place in the future. vm --W Y -,325 1 -7- Y? 7, ,i,...,,, ,, W, M is , ,wifi wt fy. gy, 45. w.,iK . A Y ggi? S CRT The trees surrounding the foot- ball field had turned a golden brown and a few leaves had already begun to fall. The crowd cheered for the start of the game, and thus the foot- ball season began. With only a few returning lettermen, the Mustangs struggled to keep up with the record of last year's championship team. They were not quite as successful, but will be tough competition during the coming season. The Cross- Country team worked hard and had a very successful season. Long hours were spent in Basketball practice as the first signs of winter appeared. Hampered by the small number of experienced play- ers, the team had a tough time getting started. The Tankers made a good showing and the many-hours of practice proved worthwhile. Spring brought the sports into the outside air once again, as Track and Baseball practice began. Striving to repeat the records set by last year's teams, the boys worked long and hard. A Tennis team was also organized after a year's omission, thus completing another year of Langley sports.
