This year, this distinction is given by way of thanks to some one for assistance ren- dered in studies and advice. Perhaps more than any other class, this senior class has felt the influence of Father James Reilly. Nlost of us met him in World History during our sophomore year at Laneri. Many of us have worked with him in Sodality and we have all come to a fuller knowledge of our Roman Catholicism in his Senior Religion course. During the three years Father Reilly has been at Laneri he has been the special friend and advo- cate of this, the senior class. As individuals and as a class, we have benefited from him as a teach- er and as a friend. We dedicate this, The Benedictus of 1959, to Father James J. Reilly in appreciation and public acknowledgment of his work at Laneri.

K' -95 L SWL. ,is . . , ,I , ,I IW A Catholic high school has a weighty burden -the duty to take each student with his God-given talents and make of him a person able to see things in their perspective. At Laneri this aim is accomplished by one method in four fields. To EXPAND OUR INTELLECTUAL LIFE, our teachers guide us to knowledge and we study with our class- mates. To EXPAND OUR SPIRITUAL LIFE, we follow the Sodality program to spiritual perfection and we par- ticipate in religious services. To EXPAND OUR PHYSICAL LIFE we play our sports and participate in Physical Education. To EXPAND OUR SOCIAL LIFE we work in our or- ganizations to better Laneri and we have fun at our dances, pep-rallies, and other student activities. In this book we will show how Laneri fulfills its duty by a four-fold expansion of its students' lives. We have also tried to make permanent record of 1959 for the memorable year that it was.
