Q Q l W Dr. jffffllll' P. Olflhzru, Principal Ri O'MARA first came to Lane in l93l, as a mathematics teacher. Four years later, when Lane moved to its present site, Dr. O'Mara moved too, l-lis first assignment was followed by a promotion to chairman of the mathematics department, and later he attain- ed the status of assistant principal. After having served sixteen years at Lane, Dr. O'Mara became principal of the Mitchell Elementary School In l955, he once again returned to our school, but this time in the top position. While at Lane, our principal has attended almost every student function. We io ,s see him walking along the sidelines during a football game, listening with full attention to our band perform, or proudly attending a crack-drill match. Dr. O'Mara is now completing his fifth year at Lane and his thirtieth year of teaching, At the same time he has taught classes in ad- vanced and elementary statistics at Loyola University. Our principal received his bache- lor's degree at Valparaiso. His master's degree and doctorate were awarded in education, psychology, and mathematics from Loyola University here in Chicago. E

They range from personal contacts such as counseling and scholarship to the everyday necessities of finance, programming, and recording. Maintenance and lunchroorn staffs, guidance personnel, librarians-these and others play a vital part in school function. By means of careful planning and preparation, the school operates at peak efficiency when the student arrives, The running of the school is a I-lerculean task, ably handled by our staff.
