DR. ARTHUR P. O'MARA, PRINCIPAL Now completing his fourth year as principal of our school, Dr. O'Mara has shown himself to be an excellent leader of the finest techni- cal high school in the world-Lane. Dr. O'Mara's job is not an easy one. Vast adminis- trative chores and the difficult job of super- vising a staff of more than two hundred and fifty teachers plus an enrollment of six thousand students fall on him. l-lowever, the twenty-five years he has served at Lane have aroused within him a deep loyalty toward our school and a driving determination toward making it an even better institute of learning. Dr. O'Mara's day is a busy one indeed: let- ters must be answered, visitors greeted, re- ports filled out, organization attended to, problems of both student and teacher solved -all of these tasks vital to the proper func- tioning of the school. Dr. O'Mara tackles his difficult job with determination and the other fine qualities that he possesses. He has brought honor and credit to Lane and most assuredly will continue to do so. The students that will come here in the future will find an even better Lane, because Dr. O'Mara works toward the future.

MR. HAWVER Retired Assistant Principal V 'f te ooiotcufit Mr. Hawver, a teaching veteran of forty years, has left his post as assistant principal. His job included the responsibility of setting up school programs and extracurricular act- ivities, and he was also responsible for filling our school's reports to the federal govern- ment. He was previously head of the Lane chemistry department, and senior sponsor be- fore Mr, Cox took over. He is a former teacher of mathematics and civics, having received his master's degree at the University of Chicago. Mr. Hawver, who has been on Lane's faculty for thirty years, still is not retiring, as he has received a five year math teaching appointment at Lane. He is one of those men who, because of their want to work and serve, cannot bring themselves to retire. We are proud that he will be with us for the years to come, g V MR.
