'iiE- GEORGE E. POST Alumni Committee George was born on January ll, l933 in Chicago. He first at- tended Waters Grammar School and later transferred to Cromley In Febuary of 1947 he was graduated, and started at Lane where he tried out for some of the teams but did not make them. During his four years at Lane he was a hallguard and played in some I.M. sports. He was in the Robot Club and is in the Smith-Hughes Auto Shop. ROBERT CONN Announcement Committee Bob was born on May 5, l932. He went to the Funston grammar school and was graduated in February of 1947. After entering Lane, Bob lost no time in getting on the swimming team, and in his senior year was elected Capt. He swam in seven city champion- ship meets, and was also the junior and senior champion in fancy diving. Bob is a member of the Letterman's Club, Tech Prep Staff, Daily Staff, Clinic Club, and the President of the Printer's Club After graduation Bob plans to go to college JACK R THUNANDER Biography Committee Jack was born an February 29 l932 in Chicago He attended the McPherson Grammar School and graduated in l946 After one year at Amundsen he transferred to Lane where he earned three letters in football and one in baseoall He was also vice pres :dent of the letterman s club president of the gridders Hi Y and participated in many I M sports Jack plans to go to college after graduation JEROME W SCHWARTZ Cap and Gown Committee Jerry was born on March 27 l932 in Chicago Illinois Since entering Lane after graduation from Brentano grammar school Jerry is a veteran of four years on the football team for which he has been awarded three letters Besides this he ran track and has been a member of the Letterman s Club and vice president of the Gridders Hi Y After graduation he intends to go to college 11nnIinIIl-l-li-IAIlr1iv.l1x1 'Q Q 'Q f 'tx it Y

LEONARD GUTH Pin and Ring Committee Len was born on September 9, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois. He at- tended the Hibbard Elementary School from which he was grad- uated in January, 1947. After spending his freshman year at Von Steuben and deciding upon a technical course, Lenny arrived at Lane in January of 1948, He began getting into the swing of things by joining the Stamp Club and later participating in the Air Conditioning Club. Besides clubs his services to the school include that of an office boy, hallguard, and at present is Sergeant-at-Arms in the Student Council. He intends to take engineering at college after graduation. ROBERT E HANSON Bob was born on December 15 1932 in Chicaqo Illinois H graduated from Trumbull Grammar School and after a year at Senn tranferred to Lane Entering Lane he joined the Crew Team where in his Senior year he was elected captain He was also on officer in the ROTC a member of the National Honor Society Key Club Sioux Hi Y Hallguards and Air Conditioning After graduation he intends to go to college JOSEPH SPAPPERI Student Service Committee Joe was born on January 31 1933 in Chicago Illinois After attending Schneider Elementary School he decided to come to Lane the school of Champions where he became interested in sports and in his first semester tried out for the football squad winning two major letters Joe played basketball and is a member of the Letterman s Club After graduation he intends to go to college FRED GOETZ Senior Swing Fred was born on January 31 1933 in Chicaao He started at the Newberry Grammar School and graduated at the Arnold Grammar School at which he received the American Legion Award After one year at Waller Fred came to Lane realizing its better auallties He joined the Sioux Hi Y Honor English Club Colleae Algebra Club and became a member of the National Honor Society His plans for the future are to attend the University of lllinois and become an engineer DONALD A STRAUB Arrangement Committee Donald was born in a log cabin near Hackensak Minnesota July 22 1933 Three months later he tcok up permanent residence in Chicago Graduated from the Bell Elementary School as vice presiden of his class in January 1947 Don turned to his neiahborhood high school for higher education and chose the architectural course He loaned the Lone band in 2B as a clarinetist and Dlaved with three championship bands in as many years Dons other extra curricular activities include rn mbershio in the National Honor Society 4A Architects Key Club College Algebra Club Honors English Class and Pin and Ring Committee lr .4 S H--la' Il li' 'K- . 1 . - e ' ' ' 'I I A ' 1 1 ' 1 1 1 ' I 1 1 1 1 . .
