MAX W PONDER Max Ponder was born on November 29 1931 ln Troy Tennessee Ten years later he moved to Chicago where he attended the Burley Grammar School He wanted to attend Lane nmmednately upon graduatvon but It was necessary for ham to spend one year at Lakevlew Hugh School due to the dustrnct rulung Upon enterung Lane Max wasted no time nn going out for sports First he tried o.ut for football next wrestlung and then gymnastics He won three major athletuc Letters that year and the followung year was elected vuce presudent of the Letter men s Club of which he as now presldent Max us also an officer In the Grldder s H1 Y In January of 1949 Max dropped out of school seekmg employment He re turned to Lane the follownng September and wnth the Lane Spnrnt he contlnued to partncupate un school actuvutnes After Graduataon Max mtends to contunue hus schoolnng 1 ?
