QUESTIONS are often raised by delegates such as Saperstein, Begun, and Papke in student council sessions. The Student Budget is regulated by the Council. The amount of money from each student to support the Lane Daily, to give to charities, and the other causes, is appropriated by the pupils themselves, through their student government. The Student Council is an experiment in democracy, a very successful experiment, whereby the student, through the representative of his division,has a sayin the laws which affect himself and his school. By this means, the relationship between the pupil and Lane is furthered since he takes an active part in the control, maintenance, and functioning of his school. The Student Court was acquired by the council to maintain justice in the disciplinary control of Lane. In the Court, a boy has a chance to explain and defend himself, a privilege that he would not have, were there no Student Court.
