The diversities in our service organizations would fill volumes. Yet they do have at least one thing in common besides giving service. As with any other organizations! they exist solely to unify the work of their members. Our service organizations give the individual a chance to grow, both as an individual and into something greater than himself. The service organization tries to make Lane a school of individuals and for individuals, by helping individuals work together. Honor comes after service. Our honor societies offer the hard worker a chance to bask in the warm rays of glory It is interesting to note that Lane has no memorial honor society. Laneites are not honored for having done something, but for doing. ?? Riff 'L :F f QQ Nu .. we - X . K? Q 0 L Q.. 5 ' iunpfn-' '7FuW:' Q 5 6912? J eye ' l l? G i fi? X? rte ns, STUDENT COUNCIL Back Row. Bowlus, Vischulis, Neumann, Parey, Podow- ski, De Jong, Lopiparo. Front Row- Dishman, Mix, Mr. Gannon, Biayard, Lodygowski. QUESTIONS are often raised by delegates such as Saperstein, Begun, and Papke in student council sessions. The Student Budget is regulated by the Council. The amount of money from each student to support the Lane Daily, to give to charities, and the other causes, is appropriated by the pupils themselves, through their student government. STUDENT COUNCIL Top Row. Bosmann, Stenberg, DeChant, Ma Row 4. The Student Council is an experiment in democracy, a very successful experiment, whereby the student, through the representative of his division, has a sayin the laws which affect himself and his school. By this means, the relationship between the pupil and Lane is furthered since he takes an active part in the control, maintenance, and functioning of his school. The Student Court was acquired by the council to maintain justice in the disciplinary control of Lane. In the Court, a boy has a chance to explain and defend himself, a privilege that he would not have, were there no Student Court.
