Chisels, hammers, saws, and sandpaper are some of the first pieces of equipment every Lane boy encounters, as his first shop course is usually woodworking. The purpose of this shop is to give the student knowledge in this valuable skill and to develop his creative ability. At first he must learn to use tools with accuracy. After he masters the basic skills, he begins to make his own project, possibly a lamp or footstool. The techniques which he learns here will be of benefit to him os a vocation or an avocation. WOOD SHOP students Jornd and l-leintz strive for craftsmanship os Mr. Roberts checks their progress.

Plastics are used almost everywhere, it is difficult to find any machinery which isn't constructed partly of plastics. Guided by Mr. Brinkman's expert instruction, the students learn to make letter openers, pen and napkin holders, lamps, and many other useful items, They design, cut, file, buff, and then bend each item, At the end of the semester a contest is held, and each student exhibits a product which he chose to make.
