MAN U' WM W 6fll5S History Early in the fall of 1960, thirteen green freshmen started to Lane High School to obtain an education. These green freshmen were: Jim Wylie, Loretta Alexander, Mike Kuder, Lois Dalton, Peggy Baucom, Fred DeMoss, Mary Beets, Ron Weatherbie, Bill Wheeler, Sally Willey, Dennis Harkins, Henry Harkins, and Sharon Oram. Melvin Schulz transferred from Rantoul during the year. Mrs. Welborn was our sponsor. Starting our sophomore year we gained Danny Timblin from Parker. Bertha Timblin also joined our class at this time. Later we lost Danny Timblin. Our sponsor was Miss Marr. At the starting of our junior year, there were eighteen members in the class of '64, Fred DeMoss left us during the summer, but we gained Mary Jones, Chester Leach, Eddie Schulz, and Fred Turley from Rantoul. Our sponsors were Mr. True and Mr. Gaddis. We pre- sented our junior play Take Your Medicine with the help of our sponsors and Mrs. Wilhite. Beginning the 1963- 1964 school term there were twenty two seniors. Connie Hase, Bonnie Hase, and Kay Vining, from Richmond High School joined our class. We welcomed Pat Ball, Peggy Ball, and Linda Milward from Princeton, formerly from Rantoul, to our group. We lost Jim Wylie to the class of '65, Mary Jones and Mary Beets left us for matrimony. Our class sponsors were Miss Finley and Mr. Laird, both of whom have helped us greatly in the production of our annual. 4 8 8' Ii 8 PAT BALL Class President 4 Glee Club 1, 2, 3,4 Mixed Chorus 3,4 Cheerleader 2 Volleyball 2,4 Pep Club 1,2,4 Band 1, 2, 4 Pep Club, Treasurer 4 Paper Staff 4 PEGGY BALL Compliments of RALPH 'S FOOD CENTER Where Price Tells And Quality Sells Osawatom ie, Kansas Volleyball 1, 3, 4 Glee Club 1, 2, 3,4 Mixed Chorus 1, 2, 3,4 Pep Club, President 2 Baud 1, 2,4g Class Treasurer 4 Pep Club 1,2,3,4 Cheerleader 4 LOIS DALTON Glee Club l,2, 8,4 Mixed Glee l,2,3,4 Pep Club l,2, 3,4 Junior Play 3 All School Play 4 Paper staff 4 Class President 3 Class Vice-President 2 Class Secretary 1,4 Student Council 2, 3 Volleyball 1, 2, 3, 4 Basketball 3,4 Softball 1 :rfff 1 zr rf if 'r 1 210' t as MIKE KUDER Vice-President 4, Secretary 35 President 2g Student Council 1, 2, 3,45 Play 2, 3g Basket- ball l,2, 3,43 Baseball l,2, 3, Track l,2,3 Cross Country 3,45 Athletic President 3,45 Baseball Captain 2, Basketball Captain 43 Track Captain 2, 33 Advertising Manager of Annual 4 I , I W M -' -'A-:fix ff' BILL WHEELER Band 1 Basketball 1, 2, 3, 4 Baseball 1, 2, 3, 4 Track 1,2, 3,4 Paper Staff 2,4 Class Vice-President 3 Junior Play 3 All School Play 4 KAY VINING Glee Club 1,2,3,4 Mixed Glee 1,2,3,4 Band1,2,3,4 fl C ' -'U'- Pep Club 1,2,3,4 Junior Play 3 l'i.w- A11 School Play 4 Class President 3 2,15 Paper Staff 4 Annual Staff 4 'PrK4. b Volleyball 1,2,4 Softball 1, 2 ,J WMM LORETTA ALEXANDER Band 1, 2, 3, 4 Chorus 1, 2, 3, 4 Junior Play 3 Pep Club 1,2, 3,4 Volleyball 1,4 All School Play 4 Annual Staff 4 Basketball 4 Softball 1 Paper Staff 4 ivy 4 'S CHESTER LEACH Annual Staff 4 Cross-country 4 Basketball 1,2 Track 1, 2 Junior Play 3 BERTHA TIMBLIN Glee Club 1, 2, 3 Pep Club 1,2, 3 Junior Play 3 Annual Staff 4 l i i - ,. , -11 ,Q ,, to , A if L- it M , ,, , K ,s 3 K 5, r , CONNIE HASE Glee Club l,2, 3,4 Mixed Glee 1,2,3, Pep Club l,2, 3,4 Cheerleader 3 Senior Play 2 Paper Staff 4 Class Reporter 1,2 Class Secretary 3 Volleyball 1, 2, 4 Softball 1, 2 HENRY DEAN HARKINS Track 1,2,3,4 Cross-country 3, 4 Baseball 2 Sports Editor of Paper 4 Annual Editor 4 Junior Play 3 DOROTHY E. This being the Golden Anniversary of the Lane Graduating Class of 1964, we have planned the biggest society event of the year. Since one of our former classmates, Lois Dalton, has become the first lady President of the United States, we have decided to hold our reunion on the east lawn of the White I-louse, Bertha Timblin arrived earlier than the rest of the class in order to have plenty of time in which to prepare her acceptance speech of the Nobel Peace Prize, Our next arrival was Madam Snifflepuss, the former Kay Vining, the first lady of Viet Nam. Madam Snifflepuss has accomplished something which few other United States Citizens have - that of becoming the first-lady of a foreign country. Next arriving were Dennis and Henry Harkins, the first colonels of the United States Space Force. Arriving with them as a passenger on their ship was Eddie Schulz, an Interplanetary diplomat. Bill Wheeler has finally received his first vacation in 45 years of continuous service as head of the F. B,I, His traveling companion is Linda Milward, the warden of Alcatraz Prison. She has diligently maintained her sincere and all important post, even though the prison has been closed for 51 years. As a special treat, Chester leach, President ofthe National Red Hot Association, has brough each member of the class of '64 a 10 lb, bag of red hots, This naturally thrilled each and every member, because we had not forgotten how much we enjoyed devouring bags of red hots during English class, President Dalton introduced a Bill on Price Reduction of Food for our reunion, to Congress. This, naturally caught the attention of Senator Fred Turley, who has the record for the longest filibuster in the Senate --13 days. This bill also aroused the interest of Pat and Peggy Ball, who are the proprietors of a world famous chain of grocery stores, which are expecially known for their MEA TBA LLS , It is amazing how well our class has stayed together in their business associations. Melvin Schulz, sole owner of a horse and cattle ranch in U, S,S.R. , is supplier of the meat for the Bal1's MEATBALLS, and also raises the stock for the World 's largest rodeos. The final approval for this stock comes from Ron Weatherbie, three times World Champion-All-Round Cowboy. We understand, because of his unusual-feat, he has won three gold buckles. It is reasonable well understood that he has no trouble keeping his pants up. Q Prophecy continuedj At first, we thought it peculiar to see a grown man dribbling a basketball down the sidewalk, but, then we recognized him as Mike Kuder, coach ofthe Harlem Globe Trotters. Our next classmate to arrive was Sharon Oram. She has never married, though she has had many opportunities, for she is a landlady of a first class Bachelor's Home. One of her most famous tenants was Richard Maloney, dean of the Massachusetts Insti- tute of Technology. We were fortunate to have for our entertainment, both an orchestra and jazz group. First on the entertainment schedule, was the New York Philharmonic Orchestra, led by Miss Peggy Baucom. We had hardly caught our breath from the inspiring music of Peggy's orchestra, when that internationally known jazz group, the Pine Cones, organized by Loretta Alexander and Sally Willey, made their presence known by play- ing the nation's number one tune, O' Those Golden Lions. The last to arrive were Bonnie and Connie Hase, better known to the public by their stage names, Matida Hopenhollerzine and Maude Swigglehiener, who have just completed their one-hundred-million-dollar-movie, Delilah versus Cleopatra . Since the start of the picture, 10 years ago, they have highly publicized it by their 17 marriages and divorces fbetween themj. Our reunion was the biggest society flop since Adam and Eve. It was mutually agreed that this floppy event ended all too soon. The reunion was brought to a close by the class singing the Alma Mater with the combined accompaniment of the Phil- harmonic and Pine Cones. 818433 .,i pw' ' H , 111gm0 1 fz:E3'fHi1 X1 mv 1 W1 1 11, . 1efg111.f3?2Q11 1 W 1 1 W 1 1 f Q1 11 1 1 11 fav: .:1fsffUea.,1 11 1 , 5 1 1 1 1 Y 1 1.1, 1 lzzflis 1 32:5 11gsesi4Qsv M 11 gy 111 11: 'J 1 1 '1111g.iQ:E- Q 1 Y, 11m1W C4 111f'11 M w1111WF 1 I vm! The plot revolves around the Popoff family and the Fry family who have been feuding for years because one of the Popoff boys said he going out to shoot an old skunk one day and accidentally shot Paw Fry instead. Periodically Mountain Maggie a legendary character who travels around the hills nursing the sick must come to patch up someone hurt in the feud. Rosie Belle Fry, being handy with a gun, takes the only unattached male in the hills from under her sister Emmy's nose. Emmy, who'd like to get hitched, decides she'll end up as an old maid if she doesn't get one of the Popoff boys. But how can she marry someone with whom her family is having a feud? She enlists the aid of Mountain Maggie, who's tired of tending to victims of the feud, to put an end to it, Mountain Maggie, wise in the ways of human nature, convinces Maw Fry and Pappy Popoff that some plain sugar water she gives them is a love potion which will make them fall in love. They are tired of being lonely and have just about decided to marry and end the feud, when Rosie Belle arrives with the news that it was all a trick. Once more the feud is going full force. In the end, of course, the feud is ended and everybody is happy, but not before there are quite a few merry mixups and rib-tickling situations.
