MAJOR GENERAL ARCHER VANDEGRIFT Lcmrfs Most Distinguished Formefr' Student MAJOR GENERAL ARCHER VANDEGRIFT, Commander of the Marines in the Solomon Islands for Which he Was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, attended Midway School for the year 1906-1907. He was appointed to the Marine Reserves after he had been a member of the University of Virginia Engineering School in 1908. A quiet, even-tempered man who according to Time led the Marines in the toughest job they ever did is Major General Archer Vandegrift. Lane can be justly proud of its former stu- dent.
