Mic. l'lUGH L. SU1,l'RllJ1IIi, principal of Lane High School since 1929, entered 14K'illi:uu :uid Mary College, Iztuuary 1, 1900, and secured his 'l'eacl1er's liliploma in 1909. He completed work for his l3.A. degree in the Summer Session ol' 1916. Lzlter he attended summer sessions at luoth Chicago University und Colnmhizl, re- ceiving his MA. degree from the latter insti- tution. Before coming to Charlottesville he held the priucipzllship of high schools :lt Coehurn, Stou- egu, Appztlacliia, und ,llig Stone Gun. Mic. W. EXLLAN 1'1a1n:iNs was horn july 6, 1880, in Cliarlottesville, Virginia. He :Lttended the joues's University School, and later studied law at the University of Virginia. He started practicing law in 1902. Mr. Perkins has heen at memlver of the City School Board from September 25, 1916, to May 21, 1923, and from November 4, 1929, to date. .1-le was elected eliztirman ol the lloard on january 21, 1932, which official position he still holds. 138
