Ile feared no danger for he knew no sin. -john Dryden Gentle Jim receives his fame not from his skill on the tennis courts, nor from his attire, nor from his shock of black hair, hut from his ceaseless desire to excel in academic endeavor. Other boys Waste the five-minutes hetween classes in useless verhiage, but james disappears to check a photographic schedule or perform a duty for another of those activities which he manages without detriment to his career. As for the social world, jim neither lacks nor deprecates those ameni- ties which make a man sought hy aspir- ing dehutantes, he simply has more im- portant things to do. He has fallen into evil hands only once-when he joined the yearbook staff. But let us not hold this against him, for he makes up for this slip by providing a great example of in- dustry for his classmates. 21 jAMEs Lewis c3AVr-XNAUGH, Jn. ulinf' Flex,' ujamesl' Entered Grade G YVilliams Bnowx AND XVHITE 6, Plzotographic' Editor 6, Student Council 4, Class President 3, Landon News 3, 4, 5, 6g Cum Laude 5, 6, Tennis 4, 5. 6.

Youthful exuberance is not ecerlastingf, -Tryon As 8:30 rolls around, The Fop decides it's time to hang up the phone and go to school. First on his schedule is finding the books he left in Torrey Hall all night. Always prepared with the excuse that the doors were locked when he went to col- lect them, he is off to first period. After six hours of brainwashing, the idol of Fourth Form biology wanders out to the football field for a restful afternoon spent in contemplation of the nightls home- work. Having annihilated all opposition at practice, he whips home and rushes through dinner to start homework. Fifteen minutes later, his assignments finished, he skims his little black book to find some likely prospects for the night. Lifting up the phone, he com- mences another evening's elocutionary practice. 23 RoBEn'r XVILLIABI DEPUY Fop Dep Pu Entered Form ll Duke Glee Club 5, 64 Landon News 4, 5, 64 Footlmll 6g Baseball 4, 5, 6.
