M- 1 QE wa 'wi v ' Duma kwa Clerer men are goml, but they are not the lzestf' -Carlyle Standing in the stern of his Yankee Clipper. arrayed in a white yachting cap, Bermuda shorts. and tennis shoes, Captain Clark lazily sails the blue waters of the Severn and looks wistfully down toward the Ocean. His broad bronzed back, glistening in the sun, and his hand constantly on the wheel, the solitary old salt meditates. He thinks about life and how he would like to live it. If only he had the courage to break all ties and sail the Spanish Nlain as the buccaneers of oldl He sees him- self all alone fighting the angry sea off Tierra del Fuego or sailing into a calm mysterious harbor of the uninhabited island of Hatie. At one moment he is eating a can of beans in a cave of New Cuineag at another he is battling the aborigines of the Amazon River. But our seaman is always alone. Never is there even a glimpse of a female companion. For Captain Clark, no true sailor in his philosophy on the fairer sex, regards the legendary seaman with a girl in every port as a worthless illusion forced upon the gullible American public by romantic movie producers. But suddenly a motor boat zooms by splashing our old salt in the face and breaking his peaceful reverie. It is then that Preston sees everything realistically -the countless stack of school books that looms as far as he can see into the future. 26

ll'or'rl.vsl1'4'el 11vlunu'g1fron: his lips' rlistill'1l -l'np4' Being blessed with every conceivable form of high-school stereotype. it is no wonder that there exists amongst us a child prodigy. Descending on Landon School in the first form. this shining star quickly blazed through a whole host of opposition on the tennis courts and then proceeded to become the necessary 'well-rounded individual' The methods be used to prove that the latter was not a difficult achievement were merely subtle ramifications of his masterful techniques in the world of sharkskin shorts and clay courts. Already an established tennis idol. he set about convert- ing that close-knit. highly competitive family organization that runs Landon School into the L. S. L. T. A. Accomplishing this with little effort. he next set about becoming Number One universally ranked by this newly converted group. Using all of his vast knowledge of tennis deception. this more difficult task was achieved by his fourth form year. when his efforts were rewarded by proclamation from above. Having completely conquered the small world of Landon, Donnie decided to challenge the world of the opposite sex. Finding that the fast volley was the most effective. he scored ace after ace in this department. culminating his achievement with the acquisition of a blue Cadillac convertible. Thus in his final days at Landon. Donald Dell can justifiably argue. as he often secretly does. that football is not what it is cracked up to be. 27 Doxsisusox LUNDY DELL i'Donny'l Don Entered Form l Princeton Siuclenf Council 5. 6g Vive-Pr'e.s'iclcr1I 61 Dance Cmnniittec 3. -1. 5. 6: Landon News -l. 5. 61 Glen' Cluln -1. 5. 6g Special Music Group fig L Club 4. 5. 61 Bear Clulz 64 Quill mul Scroll fi: Bzlsketlmll 3. -1. 5. 61 Co-Captain 51 All-Prep 5. 61 xkll-.llf'fl'01IUlllllIl 5. 61 Tennis 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 61 Captain 4. 5. 1- l.
