SENIOR HORIZONS o 0 0 o We stand, upon the edge of Time, as seniors, looking at the climb we've made upon the Bridge of Life. Amidst the darkness and the strife we pause and think and look ahead, and realize our past is dead. With graduation comes a world of hope and faith and love impearled. Twelve years of labor, maybe more, we worked, and now this door of learning is unlocked to us. We pause upon the threshold, thus, and ponder at our future years. Our hearts feel sudden, stinging fears, suppose we fail at our new task? What should we do or say? we ask. Before-our work was planned and set. We studied hard, we thought, and yet-Those times when mindswere out of doors on baseball games and foreign shores fon gy varied thing but EJ , we could not help but fully miss Q topic. But some future day, someone may look at us and say, What of this, or that, or these? We would not know, and soon disclose the folly of that wasted time. But lo-we hear the distant chime that summons us to leave you here. The notes ring loud and clear. We must depart and leave behind our schoolday treasures and our books. And now, with no more backward looks, proceed ahead, and carry on only thoughts to build upon the hopes and fears of youth itself. We put all else upon the shelf, and start anew, with strength of heart, to plunge into this fearsome part. Where do we go? What shall we do? The ones who know are very few. Our voices quiver as we talk, our courage trembles as we walk upon the summit of the Bridge. We step alone from the last ridge of childhood, where we were as one, together, happy, now -alone. We face toward new horizons, hope and patience in a wider scope of thinking than we had known before. For faith in God and love of man have upheld youth since Time began. So onward we will trudge our way, and hope that those behind will say, We won't forget you, we'll not fail to tread this same well-beaten trail. -Lovan
