It is often and truly said, It's the principle of the thing, but at Landon High School it is also frequently said that it is the Assistant Principal of the thing that counts in a boy's ability to place himself and his potentialities in the proper setting. Our assis- tant principal has proved to the students of Landon that education is a process of growing up mentally, spiritually, and educationally. He is on call at all times and the students as well as the faculty, have found that he has combined his job as assis- tant administrator with that of confidant, friend, and sounding board for all the interminable and confusing problems of the teacher-pupil-parent relationship. In spite of the turmoil and vicissitudes of school life as an assistant administrator, Mr. Smith finds time to smile and pass on to all Landonites the happy faculty of understanding and caring. It is people like him who make school experiences worth the having.

The Dean of Girls Speaks: Rupert Brooke, the English poet, in his poem, 'The Soldier,' says that wherever he might be that corner would be 'forever Englandf I like to think that wherever you seniors may be in the coming years, that you will have with you something that will be FOREVER LANDON . . . the Landon of the boundless enthusiasm of pep meetings, football games and hayrides. . . . the Landon of the serious side: classes, examinations, hours in the library . . . the Landon of good fellowship: club meetings, in the halls before school, athletic trips . . . the Landon that has given you some special inspiration: your favorite class or teacher, an auditorium speaker, the vision opened up by a book or a word, or some special kindness remembered. A So many things go to make up this Landon which you will have with you, but the main ingredient is hard to define. Perhaps it is that intangible feeling of pride in the schoolg the knowledge that Landon traditions are worthy of your loyalty, and the deep feeling that your memories will keep you in tune with the best that the school has tried to give you. My wish for each of you is that the Landon you carry with you will be a happy and inspiring memory, and in your hearts there will always be a place FOREVER LANDON. -ORRA EASTBURN
