Class ls this really our last year? Many Seniors have been asking themselves this question the past months. The time has now come for us to leave Landis High School. Let’s turn back Ole Father Time to the year of 1955. There approximately 180 Freshmen to enter the doors of Landis High. We started President; Oscar and were frightened ‘‘green”’ our year by electing Suzanne Swain, Overcash, Vice-President; Pat Biggs, Tony Belk, Treasurer, to lead us through the year. Our advisors, Mr. Thomas Jones, Miss Norma Gabriel, Mr. Glenn Deal, Mr. John Morgan, Mrs. Robert Caldwell, and Mr. Howard Graham, helped to make that year a successful one. As the end of our Freshman year came Jimmy Beaver was elected Secretary-Treasurer of the Student Government for the coming year. Joleen Kimball and Harold Tadlock represented our..class in the Hallo- ween festivities. Secretary; Knowing our way around better we entered our Sopho- more year with more ease and confidence. We began that year by electing Kenneth Orbison, President; Charles Chapman, Vice-President; Harvey Steelman, Secretary, Joleen Kimball, Treasurer; and Oscar Overcash, Parlia- mentarian. Our advisors this year were Mrs. Ben Battle, Mrs. Vivian Shaver, Miss Mary Hoyle, and Mr. Roberts. our Roy Halloween, and Harvey Steelman was elected Second Vice- President of the Student Govern- ment. class at We began our Junior year by electing Amelia Alexan- der, President; Demps Brawley, Vice-President; Gail Beaver, Secretary; Tony Ervin, Treasurer; Howard Barn- hardt, Reporter; and Harold Tadlock, Parliamentarian. Mrs. Earl Cavin, iSS Madge IES LSA Our advisors were Mr. Melvin Ramseur, Mrs. Myrtha Doron, ond M Our first accomplishment, with: the help of Mie Cavin, was the Halloween Carni ‘al. Betty Sue Hastings and Demps Brawley represented our class. We were very happy to have Betty Sue crowned Queen. There were twenty-three fellow students to be tapped into the Beta Club. Our Beta ‘program, “Round The World in Music,’’ turned out to be quite a success. Next came the Junior Play. Our presentation of ‘’The Custer’s Last Stand,’’ given in April under the direction of Mrs. Earl Cavin, was also a big hit. With the money from our Carnival and Play we were able to give the Seniors a big banquet. Our banquet, with a Hawaiian theme, was given at the Yadkin Hotel, Harold Tadlock and Sandra Frieze represented History with the assistance of Mrs. ‘Doron. In May the Seniors honored us with a Prom at ye China Grove Community Building. We were glad to have Judy Deal and Larry Wilcox selected as Chief Marsh for the graduation exer- cise. The other Marshalls were Connie Deal, Nancy Deal, Betty Hastings, Carolyn Mason, Carolyn Norton, Doro- thy Morgan, Oscar Overcash, F -erman Karriker, and John Sechler.
