pom phate CE pr A LUUK INTU THE FUTURE As I gazed in the face of an old grandfather clock, a strange thing happened. Time moved up and the clock hands departed from the clock face and left me gazing into the year of °51. There I saw the whereabouts and occupations of my former classmates. They came before me as the following people: Hazel Sutton and Louise Bost are joint owners of a beauty salon. Pauline Corriher is teaching Home Economics in Landis High School. Helen Beaver is a special reporter for the New York Times. Her latest “scoop” is the marriage of Eva Mae Dishman. Evelyn Foutz has just received the award for the most beautiful eyes in America; the judges were Harold Campbell, Luther Weddington, and Richard Sutton. Hazel Smith is teaching French in Landis University while her sister, Addie Mae, resides as the faithful wife of the President of the University. ' The most successful business man of the year is none other than Fred Triece, Jr., owner of many business firms from New York to San Francisco. His good looking secretary is Mary Lee Smith. The Reverend J. C. Hill has the honor of being the pastor of Landis Baptist Church, while Della Mae Beaver teaches a class. Melba Ketner’s love for the song, “In My Merry Oldsmobile,’ has been worth while because she now sells Oldsmobiles for Corriher Finance Company, owned and operated by Joel Corriher. Louise Sloope now has an easy job amusing a rich old man with her wise cracks while she makes love to his son. Two local girls are now champions, for Ruth Beaver excels in basketball and Imogene Bost is the greatest figure skater. Helen Karriker is composing both music and lyrics for the world’s most famous maestro, Paul Campbell. Trilby Beaver, the famous playright, is now writing the script “Red Headed Angel’ co- starring Evelyn Suttle and Floyd Daugherty. James Massey’s and Alexander Roberts’ ability to act took them places for they are outstanding comedians in Hollywood. Ruth Wright is demonstrating a dimple machine invented by Mack Pless. The Harmonettes heard over station S-E-N-I-O-R are none other than Louise Turner, Sadie Linker, Ruth Freeze, and Pauline Brown with Carl Pless announcing. Virginia Rutledge got her last piece of jewelry, (a ring), and with it goes the man. Herman Eagle is married to a good-looking blonde, lives in his winter home at Miami, drives a new Mercury every year, and owns a chain of Cafes from Maine to Miami. Allie Murphy, after wandering rather aimlessly around the world in search for that certain young man, has come back home to resume hez job in Woolworth’s store. Faye Roseman has become a well known nurse. At present she is helping Dr. Ernest Garver at the Wise Hospital, named for the famous scientist, Clara Wise. Colon Seaford, High School Principal, has added to his faculty Beatrice Goodnight and Daisy Overcash. Everette Allman, who has joined the Hayden Carter Circus, has the honor of presenting to the world the tallest and shortest man, none other than Clarence Hamilton and Cecil Linn. The world’s most daring man is Jack Sloope, test pilot for transport planes, and the pretty air- hostess is Ruth Sechler. Mr. Golden Wise is founder and president of the Wise Business College. Carl Goodman, inventor of the new mono-cyclinder tractor, has as his secretary Valerie Sowers. Nellie Suddeth has moved back to her home town in Georgia where she works in a telephone office. Leona Helms is sound effects technician for the radio program “Litaker versus Weddington” starring Gladys Litaker and Ethel Weddington. Helen Kimball, who has been studying voice in Paris, has just returned to make an Operatic Tour of the Americas. Rachel Swink and Vaydeen Rogers are owners of a large Department Store on Rainbow Drive in Landis, North Carolina. Just as I saw a dim-shadow that I believed was myself, the clock hands pushed me back and there I stood again gazing in the clock face and wondering what the future holds for me. EVELYN EAGLE, Class Prophet. Twenty-six YELLOW JACKET
