Miss Craig led us through our first yeat of school and by the time it was over we had begun to know what it was all about. After seven more years of school we were old enough now to have the responsibilities of freshmen or 'underclassmen'. At this point we still had ten of the fourteen who started in the first grade. Our sophomore year was next in line and although our activities did not increase we were glad that we did not have to go through another year as freshman. This year was a big grow- ing year for our class as all the sophomore class from Polk township joined us. We entered our junoir year with great expectations knowing that at the end of the year we would go on a trip to Washington and New York with the seniors. We raised funds for our trip by selling different things and concessions at all the home games. As we started our last and final year of school the following eight, Mary Lou Deemer, Twyla Dolby, Carolyn Heaston, David Hedrick, Donald Meyer, Kenneth Parrott, Tom Shideler, and Kyle Stouder graduated after being together all twelve years. Others who have joined us include Lee Thompson, Charles Coble, Paul Douglass, and Dan Hiatt all from Polk , Jerry Keyser, Mark Settlemyre, and Jack Boyer from Rock Creek, Marjorie Rowland from Pennsylvania, Bill Pulley, who came from Connersville, Eugene Felton and Jerry Wiley, who started with us but moved away, and after deciding that Lancaster was best came beck to join us. CLASS WILL Be it remembered that we, the Class of 1956, of Lancaster High School, situated in Huntington Cou ty, in the State of Indiana, being in our usual unsound state of mind and memory, but mindful of the uncertainty of this life, and our approaching dismemberment, do make, publish and declare this our last will and testament, hereby revoking all former wills by us made. CLASS PROPHECY In 1966, ten years after graduation, the class of 1957 decided to take a tour of North and South America. As we climbed aboard the train, to our amazement, we found Charles Coble as the conductor of the Erie Unlimited, and as it was nearing lunch time, we headed for the diner, and who should be giving orders but Kenny Parrett, the head chef. We left our train to spend a day at the White House, in Washington D. C., to visit our devoted bachelor president, Thomas J. Shideler. As we were leaving from there for New York City, we went to pick up our tickets for the class and who should hand them out the window but D vid Hedrick-master ticket agent of the largest terminal in the world. we soon arrived at New York, and of course, the girls must go shopping so their wardrobe would contain the latest fashions from Macy's,'Paris gowns modeled by the smartest model'- and as the model came out, it was none other than Carolyn Heaston. While enjoying a musical at Radio City we found the leading bass soloist to be Kyle Stouder-he still was climbing upward. On the way to the depot we saw what we at first thought was the start of a parade-but found it to be Danny Hiatt and his wife Twyla Dolby and their string of kids a block long. We all boarded our train and headed for Niagara Falls, where we met Mr. 8 Mrs. Jack Boyer, who were spending their honeymoon there. After chatting with them for a little while, we again got on our train and left for Hollywood. We arrived in Hollywood Saturday night at the Flamingo hotel, which was under the management of Jerry Keyser. Sunday morning we all went to church and, after the service, we were greeted by the Reverend Donald Meyer. Leaving Hollywood, we journeyed across the border into Mexico. There in Mexico City, we met the wife of the great Indian Chief, Montezuma, who was none other than Mary Lou Deemer. On we traveled to the jungle of B azil, where we heard Lee Thompson, a missionary to the natives, preaching a violent sermon to his wife. We quietly left this scene, and went back to civilization as soon as possible. Looking through a travelers guide book, we read that in Chile was UThe Eighth Wonder of the Worldl' The most famous flag-pole sitter in the world: Mark Settlemyre! Our last night was spent in a beautiful nightclub, owned by William Pulley. The main attraction of the evening was a native dancer, Paul Douglass. On our journey home, as we stepped into the plane to leave, we were greeted and seated by a charming stewardess, Majorie Rowland. As we were soaring through the clouds one of our group inquired about the pilot of our plane and who should we find it to be but a former school mate, Jerry Wiley. when we arrived at the Lancaster airport, we were hailed by the newsreporter, Eugene Felton, who published our journey in the Lancaster Annual. ,au uniors f 4 1 1 - SSW 'I 32. 1 1' ' -1 V . , ,., wud, ' -i 2 Y A .
