Business Manager Intffoducing Wisdom is the principal thingg therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Learning facts is relatively easy g learning concepts is more important and more difficultg integrating these facts and concepts into the framework of God's rev- elation of Himself is the highest and most difficult educational task. It can be accomplished only as one makes a faith commitment to God and walks by the Holy Spirit. - Commitment with education added equals wisdom and understanding. Principal J. Math was a complicated and difficult subject, or it was sim- ilar to a challenging puzzle or game. Regardless ofthe way we viewed it, math proved to be a very valuable subject, not only in everyday life, but in the study of science. Smelly halls, smellier frogs, worms and fetal pigs, and unexpected explosions were common occurrences in the science department. Classes provided those with an explorato- ry mind a chance for further research and discovery, and those with a desire for credits only with a subconscious under- standing ofthe principles guiding our scientific world. It is the application of knowledge that challenges us with the need of relating to others and leads us to deeper involvement in the issues of the world today. It is because of this that economics class decided to or- ganize their own business. Applying their knowledge and learning to econornize, the students formed and operated their own corporation, finding it an exciting and profitable venture. JAMES M. DRESCHER, B.S. Can we say we are lovers of peace when our churches are divided because of ill feelings toward a brother with differing be- liefs? Some of these questions and others were answered as we studied God's word in our two or three sessions a week. Whether we centered our study on a particular aspect, or studied it as a whole, the Bible became a more vital part of our life. I . -. wr air i . Upper lc-R, fx Q DAVID N. Dzrt Removers and Workers in Whz'te Each day as school ended and the last echo of student laughter and foot- steps had died away, a new sound emerged. A vacuum sweeper, the bang- ing of a trashcan, and whistling could be heard as our friendly, faithful jani- tors began their daily clean-up job. When a joke or singing filled the halls, we often found the source to be the new groundslceeper, Rick, a former barber and opera singer. The cooks donned new institution- al-style uniforms but their friendly service remained the same. Disposable paper trays and bowls made little dish- washing and gave our cooks more time to plan and serve better meals. I-:J LQ . in f, ,,,. 2y f 5 , L l .4 Www J w Classes Jeanette L. They shared a dinner with the children there, played games with them and presented a skit. The two hours passed quickly, and as everyone said reluctant goodbyes, they realized how much happiness sharing brings. When Christmas time came around, the active sopho- mores got together again, this time crowding on an open truck for an evening of caroling. They passed through country and town, filling the chilly air with the warm sound of Christmas. ,,,,. This year for the first time, students formed a Psycholo- gy Club to explore the many facets of psychology. They vented their questions to speakers and gained a better un- derstanding of themselves through a temperament analysis test. Group dynamics and films provided other avenues of experience. Approximately twenty-five people met for a weekly due. to determine a champion. These enthusiastic student: made up the Chess Club which sponsored a school wide chess tournament in january. It was the first year for the club, but it went off at a galloping pace with the help o Mr. Lipka. l 6 We Created The Library Club, a new one this year, was formed to help the librarians with some of their duties. The six members helped to paste in book pockets, pack old books which were sent to the archives and occasionally to help the librarian, Mrs. Moshier, check out books or sign pas- ses. On Monday mornings a talented group of students met to work on art projects under the supervision of Mrs. Buckwalter. These Art Club members worked with ink blowings, pencil drawings, paint and tie-dyeing. The club's major project was making a nativity scene of papier-mache which was placed in the classroom lobby. im David the shepherd boy ,V Sanford finds self-expression. I i The Stronger Sex Prevailea' On Tuesday afternoons you may have seen some people on the class- room building roof. In case you didnit know, these boys were mem- bers ofthe Radio Club, working on their radio antenna. Most ofthe club members already have their Novice License for operating the amateur radio equipment. Mr. Larry Wenger was this club's advisor. Math is Fun was the theme of this three-member club. The club sessions were spent in solving puzzles and playing games involving math. Mr. Kreider and his math buffs found their meetings to be both stimulating and enjoyable. That's enough static from you! Peaceful math club? Still life in yarn. eedles - Any Way The twenty-six members of Needlecraft were certainly an ambi- tious group, and produced a lot of work that proves it. With service to mankind as their ideal, this large group of girls inves- tigated what a nursing career would involve for them. With the money made by selling doughnuts during free periods, they supported an Oriental orphan. With Noah Good as an instruc- tor, First-aid Club members learned how to care for the injured before a doctor arrives. With this knowledge, they practiced various forms of treat- ment on each other and also gave ar- tificial respiration to a life-size doll. 1 Christmas greetings from Lan. Members learned picture-taking techniques and then put these principles to work with the club's camera, a Kodak Instamatic 100. The developed pictures were analyzed and mounted in a booklet. Monthly, a visual program from Kodak was viewed, proving to be both informative and inter- esting. When the weather was suitable, Mr. Elton Mosh- ier led the Bird Club members on hikes around cam- pus and across the Millstream into the woods to identify by sight or sound their feathered friends. As many as twenty-five species were identified on one hike alone. In winter, club members watched birds at a feeder or listened to recordings of bird calls. The members also viewed movies and slides of birds taken by the advisor, Mr. Moshier. Guess what club this Is it a Sparrow or an ostrich? l s , r l ,.,,,. There were unpleasant things: Restrictions, work stafi room checks, Being ruled by matrons, hall managers, and bells. There were lonely times and boring times And times when we wanted to leave campus more than once a week. But there were happy times, too: Playing basketball, prisoner's base, football, or tagg Wading in the Mill Stream, chatting with friends, Studying together, and living with a roommate. Through all these experiences we became as a family. What belonged to one, belonged to all. I45 46 Lit S0cz'etz'es Abolishea' This year dormitory students voted to drop the long- standing LMH tradition of the literary societies. In place of the competitive societies, the dorm was united by a council chosen by the students. This council organized various clubs including drama, music, sewing, and gymnastics. The council also planned many of the dorm's activities in- cluding socials, Christmas caroling, and an ice skating party. Half-hour prayer circles were compulsory three eve- nings a week. Other small groups organized on their own and met for prayer, fellowship, and sharing. Now if we would have only behaved last night . . . +32 .i' H1 was hoping youu 6311?
