English We became enthused with the plot of The Merchant of Venice, the tragedy of Julius Caesar , the thought- provoking play, Our Town, or the adventures in Beo- wum depending on our position on the English I to IV ladder. We laughed at the limericks of poets who seemed as human as ourselves. The essays of Emerson caused us to wonder if we would ever find the meaning of life as deeply as he had. The tragedies of Shakespeare opened our eyes to the cold realities of life. English became our 5 common ground, a subject every student had. photo - Elton Moshicer ,WSJW v--'T'-7 i W 4 , , my .1 i . . ' l , - . i -af' H ' .t OIS G.
