t -1 . . .tt -v1. ti mtrigrafgs ,rf .1,,, MISS ELSIE ROBERTSON - Counselor To the Graduates of '66 and Other Students of Lancaster High School: Human beings cannot choose the period of history into which they are born, nor select the particular place and circumstances in which to begin their lives. Each must make the best of his own circumstances in his own period of history. But it is within the choice of every person to determine some of the factors which enter the fabric of his life. There ir aplace in IW for each individual, but each must decide what he wants this to be . , . and seek it. No one can have everything to suit himselfg each life affects many others. This impact he should never forget, for it helps deter- mine the overall quality of his living. Becoming a man or woman requires more than being twenty-one years old: like everything else, it requires practice, and the set of values and habits each adopts as he practices determines the perspective through which he views the world. It is my sincere hope that Lancaster High school has helped each of you develop a worthwhile set of valuesg that your perspective on life distinguishes the worthwhile and lasting from the tawdry and fleetingg that your practice in growing to womanhood or manhood has been profitable to you, and that you are ready to seek your place in the world as an individual who will make the best of every circumstance, Congratulations on your graduation and may it truly be the Commencement of a happy and successful life, a life useful to you, your family, the nation and the world. If Lancaster High School can be of assistance to you, we would welcome the opportunity. That God will bless and keep you through the years is my sincere prayer. Sincerely, I3
