Long may this progress continue! Graduation from high thool is a commendable achievement, but it must serve only as the beginning of your life-long learning. Yet graduation as projected you into wider opportunities and heavier responsibilities than you have experienced in earlier days, and ou have probably already begun to realize individually that You can't go home again to childhood days. . You are probably familiar with the words of the poet who wrote Experience is an arch through which gleams the un- avelled world . Sometimes this wider arch may appear foreboding in some aspects, but often it also gleams with bits of appiness . . . if one is wise enough to recognize these bits for what they are: the jewels in the setting. Another poem says well: Happiness is like a crystal, Fair and exquisite and clear, Broken in a million pieces, Shattered, scattered far and near. Now and then along life's pathway, Lo! some shining fragments fallg But there are so many pieces N0 one ever finds them all. Throughout the years, You may find a bit of beauty, Or an honest share of wealth, While another just beside you Gathers honor, love or health. Vain to choose or grasp -unduly, Broken is the perfect ballg And there are so many pieces No one ever finds them all. Yet the wise as on they journey Treasure every fragment clear, Fit them as they may together, Imagining the shattered sphere, Learning ever to be thankful, Though their share of it is smallg For it has so many pieces N0 one ever finds them all. -Prixrilla Leonard may you collect your own jewels of happiness. Sincerely,
