'ki-Q52 This year the Freshman class is the largest class in high school. Wfe numbered 97 at the first of the year. Of course we have lost a few, but then we have gained a few, too. In September the Freshmen elected Clarence Goggans, president, and Sammy David- son, treasurer. After this meeting we went to our respective homerooms where we elected a vice president, a secretary, a reporter, a student council representative, an annual staff representative, and a Red Cross representative. This year the Freshman Class entered a car in the Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade, made nutcups for Red Cross, and nominated a candidate for the Sweetheart Dance held on February 9, 1957. Melinda Robinson, our candidate, was elected sweet- heart. The Freshman Class has an annual outing, which this year was a swimming party held on May 23, 1957, at Waxahachie. They have such daily activities as volleyball, foot- ball, basketball and softball. They also attend occasional high school programs in the auditorium. Each homeroom has a monthly Citizen Club meeting and there is a Chap- ter of the junior Red Cross which includes 11 in junior High School. This year their basketball team en- tered district competition for the first time and tied for first place in district, an accomplishment of which we are very proud. Also they won first place in a consolation playoff at Waxahachie. l S4 W i 4 u'f 'ra -lcnl-cins, -Timmy Edward L .E Fant.
