J. E. Brown, Supt. of Schools THE SUPERINTENDENT'S MESSAGE The tremendous speeds now successfully attain- able by aircraft and guided missiles make our world seem smaller each passing day; and each day the world seems smaller the need for bigger men, and I do not mean mere physical stature, becomes more apparent. The current times demand that men emerge from our ranks with appreciation for, and an awareness of. the fate of themselves and their fellow man. Unbelievable speeds and inconceiv- able atomic force have been unleashed upon the world and held only in check by the strong moral fiber and fortitude of responsible men. Education is the means of preparing man to live with men in our world today. The educational pro- gram of this community and of this country will determine to a large measure the kind of a world in which we shall live. Our place in world leader- ship has become a great responsibility which we cannot deny or thrust off. Our schools must pre- pare for the new role of America in our times. J. E. Brown Robert W. Payne, Assistant Supt. of Schools Page Six
