Walking down Arledge Avenue. on ottroctive dis- ploy in George's Gorgeous Gowns Shop caught our eye. To our omozement we discovered JoAnn George as the owner. She told us that Soro Homil- ton. Fronces Feotherott. JoAnn McCoy, Mory Roger. Floro Anderson, and Patricio Conrod were her dressmokers. Expecting to do the town. we each bought one of George's Gorgeous Gowns and left the store to look for other tomilior toces. Continuing our walk, we noticed o lorge neon sign proclaiming Buy Much ot Motsch's Meot Market. Presuming this was owned by Richy and Ronnie. we wondered in for o look-see. Betty Sher- burn, the head coshier. agreed to show us around. Here we found Donn Kromer, Jerry Forley. ond Richord Fosnough os butchers. Ronnie Sowers 05 delivery boy. and the bookkeeper. Fredo Lee. After we left the morket. we went to the news- poper ottice now coiled Elgoe-Ettezog tEogle- Gozette spelled bockwordst. We were surprised to see Louise Moore as switchboard operotor. She coiled Ookley Ketch. copy boy. to show us through the plant. Working on the press were Donold Moore. Neil Snoke, Terry McKittrick. ond Jim Rouch. The bookkeeping department was hondled by Pot Murdock. Donno Leohner. ond Poul Ander- son. From 0 short chat with Lillion Koumeyer. so- ciety editor. we leorned that Dick Figgins, Bob Wilson, Ronold Morris, and Normon Snoke were poper boys. Lillion also told us that Chorles Doug- loss was editor, and Larry Neeley wos photograph- er. She then suggested thot we might wont to see Loncosterts newest toctory, Young's Yo-Yos. In- corporated. We hoiled o helicopter tincidentolly our operotor wos Wolter Eckt and headed for this industrial plont. Imogine our surprise when we found the owner of this toctory wos Rito Young. She asked Shirley Fronke. soles monoger ot the string department, to toke us on o tour. In the moin ottice we sow Bonnie Dunkle. Noretto Corder. Normo Wough, Chorlene Le- Crone. ond Vivion Schroeder working as secretor- ies. In the plant itself we found Holden Broin, Bill Kemper, Forrell Lindsey. and Dole Thornton wind- ing up Yo-Yos. Bill North is the toctory Yo-Yo tester. It was getting lote. so we coiled o toxicob to go back to our hotel. On the return trip our driver Kyle Smith. developed motor trouble ond stopped ot Milleris Motor Shop. operated by our old friend Keith Miller. He employs Cori Johnston, John Adkins, Wolter Byers. Eorl Fouble. and Kenneth Shull os mechonics. It was 0 short wolk back to the hotel. and We enjoyed the exercise. We found more of our old Clossmotes working in the hotel. 24 1953 CLASS PROPHECY It was on pretty October day in the yeor 2000 when we arrived in the thriving metropolis of Lon- coster. Since our high school groduotion in June. 1953. we had not been back. By the woy, we hop- pen to be Marilyns-eMilsom ond Nusboum, who hove just returned from Hollywood. completing o successful career. together replacing onother Mor- ilyneyou know, Monroe. Wolking down Arledge Avenue. which in 1953 was Main Street. but renomed in honor of Loncoster's womon moyor Betty Jone Arledge. we ran into Bill Groybill, now principal of L.H.S. Being interested in our old Clossmotes. we asked him to bring us up to date on the occupations and where- obouts of some of them. Bill was quite hungry as usuol and suggested thot we join him at Horold Huppis Hamburger Hoven tor discussion of some of our old friends. When we were comfortably settled, we recognized the waitresses: Pot Morrow, Rosemory Chilcote. Corolyn Reid. Lenoro Spires. Doro Pittmon, and Lois Cox. Bill informed us that the excellent hom- burgers we were munching were prepared by chefs Poul Robe and Gene Ayers. Bill seemed quite eager to talk to us end started out on one of his Iong-winded speeches. To begin with, L.H.S. has undergone quite O chonge. Both the girls and boys hove 0 swimming pool. Lee Lope makes 0 wonderful instructor be- cause of his ability in blowing up water wings. AH clossrooms hove been remodeled with easy choirs. coke mochines. and television sets. The science de- portment. headed by Bob Ely. hos o minio'ture otom bomb plont. Also on the faculty are Jeon Hines. Virginio Vonperson. Rosolee Word. Mory Deitz. Ruby Weover. Borboro Deol. and Joyce Stein. Coaching in the athletic department ore Dove Kern. Gene Westenborger. ond Dorrell Huttmon. Mony of our graduates ore civic minded. Miesse Mouger. noted because of his long record in safe driving, is trottic court judge. Police chief is Earl Raymond. Serving on his force ore Cort Siler. George Appel. Ronnie Nusser, Jerry Dupler. and John Grove. Fred Stewart is sherittc and his deputies ore Dick Former, Dove Cannon, and Poul Arter. Working for the county road department ore Don Bowlby. Edgar Henderly, Pot Agosto. Ron- nie Peck. and David Stretton. You know we hove on new hospitol on Kin- keod Hill: of course. you remember that place! Hospital superintendent is Jerry DeMereH. and Janet Rutt is the Nursing School Supervisor. Under her direction are the nurses. some of whom are Anno Ely. Morie Stouder. Clarice Anderson. Iso- betlo Toylor. Anetta Hines, Virginio Julian, and Rosemary Bowers. Orderlies ore important in 0H hospitals and this one is no exception. Ed West- hoven will soon be retiring. but he has given many toithtul years to the hospital in this capacity. Mox Giles is the ombulonce driver, and his assistants Poul Kiger and Bob Wolton hove tun blowing the sirens. Two of the most respected specialists in the

Then Roeno tuned in the local radio station to hear Leo Cookley's Mountoin Boys. composed of Gory Willioms. Richord McGione. Philip Winons. and Lee Lunsford. Leo directs the program. When we got back to our hotel room. we found 0 note asking us to coll Beverly Behrens. She heard we were in town and invited us to eat dinner with her out the Club Sovoy iJohn's. of coursei. There we got into 0 long conversation with Beverly. who we learned was 0 New York model. She told us of mony Loncostrions in and around New York. Beverly commented. l was recently at Radio City Music Hall. Guess whom I sow in the Rockette line-up! - Judy Goodman. Betty Roedel. Mory Jone Mosier. Julie Booker. Beverly Austin. and Martha Emrick. Also on the stage were Tom Evans and Carolyn Ankrom in 0 dance team. Bill White accompanied the two on the piano. Beverly oiso told us that Curtis George was notionol pick-up stick chompion. Koren Truog is repiocing Betty Furniss on TV. Beverly took up our discussion soying. Donno Corlisie owns New York's most successful art studio. Her artists are Morlene Bunger. Mobel BushI Groce Long. Lovonne Bowlby. and Kay Korcher. Our talk was interrupted by Master of Cere- monies Tom Seymour's introducing Jimmy Heft's' Hormonico Hounds. His team included Woyne Hewitt, Wendoli Hill. John Hitchings, Curtis Boice. and Joe Hudnoll. Tom brought on the current song roge. Jone Griffith. singing on song she wrote with Poul Johnston. Get With It. accompanied by G chorus in which were Noncy Soles. Vivion Stebelton. Borboro Buckingham, Audrey Conrad. Peori Smith, and Carolyn Converse.
