FORENSICS: LOCAL AND SUB-DISTRICT CONTESTS HELD AT LANCASTER It is a desirable trait to be able to read a poem or prose selection, or relate a declamation or speech and convey the idea across the infinite area of podium to audience. In forensics there are four levels of competition, local, sub-district, district, and state. At the local level two contestants are chosen from each of the cate- gories except the plays of which only one is sent. At the following levels those receiving A ratings continue. There are nine fields of competition, play acting, reading of prose or poetry, four minute speeches, original oration, significant speeches, public address, and extemporaneous speaking. Each category is different and pro- vides a field of interest for everyone. ABOVE: DECLAMATIONS: SIT- TING: julie Adams, Linda Graneyg STANDING: Vicki Yoose, Lois Kaiser, Lee Kirschbaum, jean Hahn.
