Class Hrstor On a bright and sunny day in September, 1950, forty four green, green freshmen entered the hallowed halls of L l-I S to begin four long years of high school Among our class members returnrng from the eighth grade we find the familiar faces of Dale Beck Duane Carlson, Lavina Isaacson Kenneth Kam, Nels Krouchuk, Dennis Murray, Kerth Nicholson, Donald Nordrne, Connie Nordling, Carolyn Peterson Allan Qumer, Gale Qurner Mar1orre Sjos trand Betty Smith Bruce Sundem, Marlys Tureson Dale Vagle Darlene Vagle, Kenneth Waller, Joyce Ward, David Westerson, James Wrlwant, and Marlys Winters. We also see many new faces and we find that their names are as follows Bobby Anderson, James Anderson, Jennie Cerkowmak Elalne Coffield, Loretta Dexter Mildred Eggerud Denms Ekhlom, Shirley Farbo, George Gardiner, Vance Johnson, David Karol Violet Karol, Margaret Lrndstrom, Dorothy Maksymchuk, Dorothy Molley, Drcky Nicholson Lucille Renville, Joseph Smolok, Beverly Strege, Jimmy Wallenberg and Victoria Walukieviecz The leaders of our freshman class were President James Wallenberg Vice President Elaine Coffield Secretary Marlys Winters and Treasurer Joyce Ward Our class advisor was Mr Lehner The highlight of our freshman year was our initiation by the sophomores The freshman guls were dressed in long underwear, bib overalls turned backwards engtneer boots, onion necklaces, hair plas tered with wave set to one peak in the back and tred with a green ribbon The boys were dressed similarly, but they wore dresses and women s shoes We all had to carry baskets and brooms Beginning our sophomore year fifteen of our class failed to return. They were Denms Ekholm Lucille Renvrlle Vance Johnson, Kexth Nicholson, George Gardiner, Joseph Smolok, James Anderson, Gale Qumer Denms Murray, James Wilwant, Kenneth Waller, AllanRay Qurner, David Westerson, Marlys Tureson and Dale Vagle We observed the annual custom of mrttating the green freshmen by making them wear ridiculous outfits, and, at the party in the evening making them perform quite entertaimngly for us upperclassmen. We also had a new classmate this year Mary Ellen Kjelstrom who had transferred here from Goodrtdge High School Our class officers were Pres tdent, Mary Ellen Klelstrom Vice President Joyce Ward, Secretary Marlys Wlnters, Treasurer-Connie Nordlrng Our class advisor was Mr Nelson In the first six weeks of our sophomore year, Marjorie Slostrand left us to attend remainder of the year Our Junior year arrived, and our class numbered eight less. Our missing classmates were Bobby Anderson Kenneth Kam, Dorothy Molley Marlyswinters, David Karol, Nels Krowchuk, and Joyce Ward Jennre Cerkowmak returned to spend her last two years w1th us We chose as our class officers, President-Connie Nordlrng Vice Pres rdent Dorothy Maksymchuk, Secretary Margaret Lindstrom, Treasurer Dale Beck Our advisors were Mr Nelson and Miss Garsterg Our Junior class first displayed their talents the night of the Carnival when we presented our original skit entitled Ghost Town, U S A for which we copped fu'st prize Our second dramatic presentation of the year which also proved very successful was our class play, Aunt Cathres Cat The planning and presentation of our Junior and senior Prom and Banquet was the biggest event of the year Blue Moon was the theme and we all agreed that it was worth the months of hard work We began our senior and final year by electing as our leaders, President Dorothy Maksymchuk Vice Prestdent Dale Beck Treasurer Jennie Cerkowniak, Secretary Victoria Walukrevtecz Mr and Mrs Edwards were chosen as our class advisors f Mlary Kiay Mattson transferred here from Thief River Falls to finish high school with the class she left in the ourt gra e We are lookrng forward with great anticipatron to our senior play Junior and senior Prom and Banquet, class trip commencement and baccalaureate lass Prophet: It is 1974 and the seniors of 54 are settled down They are returning to Lancaster to celebrate Lancaster s 70TH amnversary ' As we are enjoying the fun someone behind us said, Hr. The voice sounded familiar and with a second look we see it is Dorothy After wehad talked for a few mrnutes she told us she was a beauty operator in Caribou She also told us about her former classmates and what they are doing Shirley now owns and operates a Hudson Car Factory situated along the Roseau River, and who should be her fix it man but Dicky A new business has sprung up in Lancaster Betty and Corporatlon have started a Seven Up Bottling Co Lavina is busy collecting and sterilizing old bottles and bottle caps Mary Ellen is peacefully settled down in a little grass hut in India her husband is a missionary Vicky has struck it rich, she inherited an oil well and lives an easy life Among her many servants is her 14 all I I I I l 9 : . .
