CLASS ADVIBIRB lr. Blitb and lr. Kirk I0 , . 4 , -A 4 H1stor The h1StOTl oi the class of l95l 1S so dramatlc that we must conpare it to a play a modern play that completely disrtgards all rules of drama We shall proceed to rev1ew thls four act play, Nihe class of l9Slu, 1D as unbiased a manner as po sible It 13 produced by the board of educatlon w1th the taxpayer's co-operat1on and lb given by an all star cast There are thlrty three stars at the beglnnlng of the play They are Clxfford Anderson, Dor1s Beck, Marilyn Cedergren, Charles blow, Donald Clow, Vlrglnia Coleman, Rodney tory, Rlchard Efflnger, Leonard Ehrehstrom, Dessie Farbo, Hlchard Farbo, Patricia Glad, Mary Gustafson, Mar1lyn Halverson, Krist1ne Hanson, Phyll1s Hogl1n, Rlchard Hogl1n, Roy Jaszczak, Phyllis Jerome, Elden Johnson, Denhls Keil, Lo1s Lindquist, Joan Murray, Phyllis Nelson, Ray Ph1l11ps, Kate Puskeora, blyde Sandul, Murlel Sanner, Alvord bundwm, Barbara Ward, and Patrick Wilson VSTIOUS 1HC1dBHtS and circumstaxces occur throughout the drama which cause some actors to drop out and others to join the cast The scenes all take place in Lancaster H1gh School and the eettlhgs are plaln, showing s1gne of hard use The v1ll1an is called Study, and each year tne cast looks forward w1th dread to the encounter w1th hil best friend, Examinatlons However, through careful dally preparatlon they are able to defeat him In act one the perloruers are given the name of Freshmen Durlng most of th1s act they are constantly slammed and trampled on by the upperclassmen There are several h1ghlights 1n th1s act, but the most hllar- 1ous scene is probably 1nitiat1on, when the bophomores show their author1ty over the Freshmen The cast il led through the entire play by four leadlng characters known as class officers In the 11rst act Patsy Glad is Presldent, Donald blow IS Vice Presldent, Mur1el Sanner 1S Secretary, and Roy Jas czak is Treasurer perfonmers who left the stage lor other vocat1ons dur1ng tH1S act were Patrack Wllson, Mary uustafson, Alvord Sundum, Leonard Ehrenstram, Clyde Sandul, and Hlchard Ehrehstrah Ihe clamax comes wlth f1nal examinatlons, but as ae previously stated, the Freshmen were v1ctorious and the curtaln lalle leav1ng everyone 1n a happy mood Act two snows the same scene but the characters, who are how called Sopnomores, appear a tr1fle more fa m1l1ar w1th thelr surroundlngs, and we note a dec1ded change 1n the1r make up and costumes As the curtain r1ses we not1ce 1mmed1ately the absence of Kathryn Bla1r, Dickey Effinger, Kate Puskedra, and Krlstine Hanson A hlgh po1nt of thls act was 1n1t1at1on or the lowly kreshmen, and our cast takes great P8138 in giv1ng them the proper treatment Now they are led by Mickey Cedergren, Dennls Kell, and Lois Lindqulst, who occupy the consecutlve Oll1CeB of Presldent, oecretarv, and Treasurer between the f1FSt and second scenes a new actor, Rodney Tw1stol, was admltted to the cast, and about th1s time Phyllis Hoglln and Rodney Cory left us At the end of the act aga1n the group must meet the dreaded cr1s1s, but agaln they come through w1th flying colors As the perionmers take thelr places for act three, we see the same famlliar laces, but ind1vidua1 changes 1h both looks and attitude prevent the poss1b1l1ty of monotony One new actress, Margaret Koechler, takes her place on stage at thls t1me The chosen leaders for this act are Pres1dent, Marilyn Halverson, Vice Pres1dent, bliiford Anderson, secretary, L013 Llndquist, and Treasurer, Muriel Sanner The purchase of class r1ngs and the presentation of a class play, uBT1d8S to Burnn, were two of the outstandlng scenes How ever, the climax was the Prom and Banquet put on by the performers, now called JUIIIOTS, in honor of the Senlor Class They chose the theme, WStardustH, and decorated the hall and assembly accordlngly 1n a very tlme Act four arr1ves at last and 1S warnly recelved We have grown honestly fond of all the cast, some of whom we regarded w1th 8HVthlHg but favor 1H the 11PSt act It 18 wlth deep regret that we notice the absence of two of our perionmers, Phyllls Jerome ard Charles Clow Donald Clow leads the group through the last act and 15 a s1sted by Phyllls Nelson, Margaret Aoechler, and l1CK6y Ledergren Durlhg th1s act the cast enJoys the pleasure of presenting another tnree act play and also of taklng a short trlp together At last the fatal hour arrlves F1nal Examinat1on ra1ses his slnlster head The 3Cnl0F attack is brave and well organlzed and the result v1ctory 15 apparent The play ends in a burst oi glory, w1th flofers, mus1c, and congratulat1ons 1U short, graduat1on exerclses, and we have the well known and ever popular, appy endlng mln!
