The program of art enrichment is of- fered to students of high qualifications, visual awareness, and mature attitudes in the area of the humanities. Pat and Barbel enioyed the conducive college learning atmosphere. The pro- gram included drawing, painting, iewelry making, pottery, and general crafts. This program, as offered by the State Teachers College at Buffalo, is supported by the P.T.A. Al- though a Key Club is similar to other high school organizations in that it operates under school regulations and draws its membership from the student body, it is in some ways uniquely different from any of them. This uniqueness stems from its spon- sorship, its aims and its program. - The Key Club is unique in that it is sponsored iointly by school officials and local Kiwanis Club officials. Through this singular sponsorship and the association developed, Key Club members learn about their com- munity and responsible citizenry. Although the organization is uni- que, the primary aim of the Key Club is to develop initiative, leader- ship and citizenship among its mem- bers. MODEL UNITED NATlON'S ASSEMBLY The Model United Nation's Assembly meets each year at Gannon College in Erie, Pennsylvania. lt con- sists of students from Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York who serve as representatives from countries all over the world. These delegates are divided into committees that attempt to solve world problems in the same manner as the actual U.N. in New York City. This year some of the problems discussed were: Disarmament, the Congo, the Berlin Crisis, Cyprus, and the Laos question. Students from Lancaster were chosen on their scho- lastic ability and knowledge of world affairs. Also taken into consideration were personality and ease of speaking. Those who attended were Margaret Hawk, Holly Smith, Linda Zylka, Donna Laney, Jackie Brozyna, Janis Stuart, Karen Winkler, Kathy Wollesch- lager, Karen Parr, Darlene Biggee, Cathy Miller, Secre- tary, Karen Waiss, Publicity Chairman, and Barbara Ellk, Group Chairman. After many study sessions and bloc meetings, the Lancaster delegates representing Norway traveled to Erie where they experienced a weekend of General Assembly meetings, individual committee meetings, guest speakers, mixers, and other activities. The dele- gates arrived home Sunday afternoon after three en- ioyable and totally worthwhile days. Mr. Vincent E. Kane was director of the group and was accompanied by Mr. Richard Pierce and Miss Sue Hartke who served as chaperons. The Student Council is the student gov- ernment in the school. The members are chosen from their respective homerooms to get information on school matters for the students they represent. These same representatives are to bring student sug- gestions and views to the Student Coun- cil for the benefit of the school. We hope that the group furnishes the students with a practical laboratory in democracy. Among the new activities sponsored by the Student Council were: a cafeteria courtesy day where all the tables had table clothes and flowers, a collection of money and gifts from the student body which were presented to Our Lady of Victory Orphanage at Christmas, a thorough revision and rewriting of our constitution, and benefit performances designed to aid fellow students. It was felt that these new activities helped to broaden the council members and stu- dent body's perspective on community responsibility and human charity. The officers for the year 1964-65 are: President, Joseph Arcese, Vice President, Marcy Brimop Secretary, Kathy Thorpe, and Treasurer, Robert Ball. The Director of Activities is Mr. Vincent E. Kane. Their victories over J.F.K., West Seneca, Williamsville, and Hamburg among others earned them the Division l championship. As with all champion teams, it is difficult to single out one person because the victory usually represents a collective effort. Each game was a composite of team spirit and enthusiasm. Without this team spirit it could have merely been a mediocre season. The Redskins were well represented on the ECIC All-Star Team. John Gebhardt, Joe Brunet, Carl Kuras, and Lou Sallie were singled for their individual ef- forts.
