Since we are late in our organization, and since we are lacking in experience, our only accomplishments are the hold- ing of a dance and the publishing of our Junior High Annual. Near the end of the year we see ourselves enjoying a picnic at Como Park before the serious business of graduation from Junior High School. Thus 139 of us complete the first joyful year of our high school career, with only a few, but by no means inferior, achievements. In our second year we again behold Ruth Seitz as our capable presidentj Edwin Kinnen is our new vice president, Mary Beam is secretaryg and Jane E. Smith is treasurer. Becoming more experienced and confident, we try to increase our finances by holding two dances and a magazine sale, all of these enterprises being successful. The junior year holds more promise and success for us. Looking back again, we see Ruth Seitz rewarded for her efficiency with a third term as president. George O'Neil becomes vice- presidentg Alice Miller undertakes the secretarial dutiesg and the management of our funds is bestowed upon Charles Marino. As preliminaries to the annual Junior Prom, we hold a Halloween Dance and a Valentine Dance, both of which have a favorable out- come. Then comes the Prom--ruled over by Max Van Buskirk as king and Arlene Miller as queen--a HMoonlight Serenade,N a masterpiece of art, with the gymnasium setting exquisitely decorated with moonbeams and roses. And now, here we are--seniors. George O'Neil is our competent president. To assist him are Tom Nichols as vice- presidentg Shirley Snyder, secretary, and Jane E. Smith, treasur- er. So far this year we have increased our income by holding a Sadie Hawkins Dance, a stationery sale and by selling candy at the games. Our senior play was a great attainment, for the cast not only enjoyed presenting it, but the audience enjoyed their performance equally as well. The success of HStage Dooru was due in a large part to the efforts of our two able directors, Mr. Bigelow and Allen williams. Perhaps the play might not have been so entertaining if the cast had proved less talented. We are now planning two more informal dances and last, but not least, our senior ball, and are even looking ahead to our graduation and the future beyond that graduation. For this reason, after we make our exit from these carefree school days, we shall try to continue in our new responsibilities as we have in the past--diligently, confidently, and with a smile. Who! what we do, out now we do it.U Our Keira ,mf NOT WHAT WE DID, BUT I-IGW WE DID IT Nowx as we near the completion of four of the most joyful, and perhaps the most important, years of our lives, we, 'he class of '43, look back at the days that have elapsed since the fall of '39--some ot us with pride, some with regret and all of us with happy memories. As we review the first year, we notice a large group of boys and girls trying to organize themselves for more effec- tive cooperation. Mr. Kling is working energetically to help us accomplish this. we find ourselves separated into smaller sec- tions! each section choosing delegates to nominate class officers for us. At a mass meeting we select from these nominations Ruth Seitz as presidentg Norma lane MacPherson, vice presidentg Charles Marino, secretaryg and Caimella Ventura, treasurer. Then we see Miss Smedley appointed to advise us on our course for the years rreceiing our final graduation. 12
