SS HIST The C1085 of '39 began 1ts eventful career by electrng M Brock as thelr advxser, a cholce whlch has proven more and more fortunate as the class has advanced toward lts goal gradu atron The freshman year offxcers were Chester Snyder, President, Dale Greenwood, vzce breszdent Nlcholas Mashlonlck, treasurer, John Land, secretary Although the freshman year was successful soclally lt was by no means br1ll1ant flnanclally, a fact whlch 1S also appllcable to the three years whlch followed Durrng '35 and '36 our class sponsored two dances, a baked goods sale, and a class p1ChlC No senlor w1ll ever forget the frogs whlch were laborlously created to provlde decoratlons for the Frosh Leap Year dance, or the nlghtmares populated by footballs whlch were the aftermath of the Football Dance The Kzngdom of Books a pageant whrch we pre sented at our Junror hlgh graduat1on, was generally conceded tobe our outstandlng freshman ach1evement, probably because of the able d1rect1on whlch we recerved from the faculty Our sophomore year featured the Sophomore Hop whlch as slnce become an L H S trad1t1on Durlng thls year our cabrnet consrsted ofKather1ne Cretekos, Pres1dent Gerald Schleflee treasurer Marron O'Hern secretary Prlzed were donated by class members for the cord party and dance Wh1Ch the class spon sored Our Hallowe'en party, supposedly a masquerade, was no torlously lackrng 1B costumes wood, Gerald Schreflee, and Jeanette Mlller After our Valentlne and Jltter dances, we embarked on a long perlod of hard work and careful plannrng the result, however, was well worth all our labor the '38 JUnlOI Prom was a memorable occaslon, as any who were present can testlfy When our class entered 1ts senror year, we were faced wlth a tremendous responslblllty to flnance and publ1sh the second lssue of the Cayugan On our shoulders rested the burden of maklng an annual a L H S tTGdll1Oh lf we falled, no other Cayugan would ever be publxshed W1th th1S reallzatlon to spur us on, we began a perlod of feverlsh actlvlty, sellzng hotdogs at football games Ianother lnnovatronj furn1sh1ng undergraduate classes wlth emblems, selllng magaz1ne subscrlptlons, and flnally selllng the actual yearbooks It 15 only through the hearty co Operatlon of all the departments of L H S that we are able t present thls lssue of the Cayugan On Aprll 12th the Class of '39 presented lts Orlental Ball The cred1t for thls soclal, lf not flnanclal success, must be grven to the decorat1on COmm1ttQ6, whlch worked fa1thfully dur lng vacatlon, and to Mr Brock, who cheerfully gave up h1S catlon to supervlse preparatrons At the present tlme, the last achlevement of thls class 13 1n the throes of preparatlon I refer to the annual 30 GLA GRY I. . . . . 1.
