Some will instantly recall the '6Pizza Plightn of their freshman year along with the satisfaction of com- plaint sessions after a full night of studying. Others could spontaneously give an exact account of each impromptu exercise session after monthly weight checks. Still others remember the Christ- mas parties with Jolly Old Saint Nick, the gang sliding down the stairs on blankets, the five thou- sand word essay, the water battles, and most of all snack time in the kitchen. On the other hand, many would like to forget the gloom of class- mates' unexpected departures. The memories of these two years will always linger in our minds, long after our paths diverge. Capping Finally, the long anticipated day had arrived- June l7, 1966. Sun-tanned andjubilant we arrived at Hensel Hall, at the end of our short, two weeks vacation. Pride swelled within us as we felt our caps being pinned upon our heads-pride in our ac- complishment, pride in our school, and pride in our profession. We had reached our first goal, the one that had been utmost in our minds throughout our long, difficult Freshman year. With renewed enthusiasm we could now strive toward our next goal-that of graduation. I solemnly pledge myself before God and in the presence of this assembly- 'a To pass my life in purity and to practice my profession faithfully. Who unlocked the door? Accidents do happen! Rita Heatwole, Student il 3 T 2 S 'U Senior Year Finally, after much sweat, toil, and tears, 1 we arrived on the threshold of our senior year with eager expectation. We had wit- nessed the transition from old to new is housing, from a forty to thirty-two hour week, and from a traditional to 'Llevelsw program. Despite a fifty per cent attrition rate, the Class of l968 had survived. Pediatric, surgical, recovery room, clinic, rehabilatative, and emergency room nurs- ing filled our senior year with many reward- ing, and sometimes difficult, learning exper- iences. Now, with mounting confidence, we face the future-ready to apply our Keep your eyes open and swallow! Christmas caroling fCouncil President K We finally became seniors. l 7 In contrast to Fondersmith and the old Duke Street houses, with their peeling wallpaper and crumbling Walls, we now live in this artistic, modern dormitory, which has been our home since May of l967. lts spacious lobby, air-conditioned rooms, and convenient elevators have helped to effectuate one more step in ourjourney toward success in our profession. Despite the disruption of personal plans, you willingly con- sented. With your able assistance, we began to understand and use the principles and knowledge of pharmacology. The glia, dendrites, and axons of the nervous system became a reality through your course in neurology. In addition, your ex- ample and instruction enabled us to function well in emergency situations. But above all, we will remember your keen interest in us as a class and as individuals, your vibrancy and sincerity, and your willingness to sacrifice valuable hours for the improvement of our class. With deep appreciation, we dedicate our 1968 NIGHTINGALE to you. 57fif'htYlfg ' Y' 2 543 'K , 2 J 1 'ii ff ww fa :xi ii . , FACULTY Miss Barbara Brackbill, R.N., B.S. Eager, impetuous young girls have become mature and professional young women in the span of three short years. I have watched this change take place and have greatly enjoyed sharing it with you. Watching each of you has brought back memories of my own student days with their many joys and sor- rows. This year is just the beginning of your lives. We have not tried to teach you everything, that is impossible, but we have en- deavored to make you think. Logical thought is the greatest aid you can possess. In working with you I believe we have met this objec- tive. And so I say good-bye . . . God bless you . . . and Think. Sincerely, Judith G.
