With white bibs sparkling clean, shoes neatly polished, hair meticulously combed and encased in a lhairnet, sixty-eight very excited and very, very proud bareheaded students boarded buses for Hensel Hall, where each one would be awarded the coveted cap, the symbol of knowledge. Even with caps leaning precariously as we descended the stairs, we held our heads high, knowing that all our parents in the auditorium were just as proud as we. Now we could truthfully accept the term student nurse as more than just a possibility. Promptly at eight olclock thenext morning we were received as true Clinical students. Patients offered congratulations, and co-workers recalled fond memories of their own capping ceremonies. Yes, the transition from Preclinicals was made easily and readily. Case studies and clinical records were upon us and we attacked ,them eagerly. After a few months of medical and surgical experience, we looked forward to the beginning of our Specialties , SIXTEEN
