Actually,.Nursing is a great vari- iety of careers. Now, about to graduate, you are choosing that one career in Nursing, Wl11Cl1 YOU can Serve most effectively and in which you can find greatest personal satisfaction. To you who have taken the important step of becoming a nurse, the World is beckoning. What sort of a nurse! Reliability and all it implies in honesty, loyalty, and alertness would certainly be the outstanding quality that physicians and other nurses expect of a nurse-but patients look for more. Con- scientious performance of duties is that intangible something that makes the truly successful nurse. The quality is hard to define. It is the sort of devotion to duty which keeps the captain of a great ship on lhls bridge 48 hours, without sleep, when danger threatens. It is something more, for a nurse is not dealing with ships, but with the human body-the temple of the mind and of the soul.
