CHORUS CHORUS STORY Led by a capable and efficient director, the mixed chorus presented nine spring concerts in the surrounding community churches again this year. In these concerts many special groups performed; thus presenting an inspiring sacred evening of music. In addition to the spring concerts, the chorus presented a Variety Show. Participation in the NISBOVA contest this year was eagerly awaited by about half the students in Chorus. This group of students has proven to be capable of superior musical ability and willing to work for it. Students were wellprepared, the stages were set and the gymnasium was filled with an avid audience waiting tohear the musical variety show, Sounds of the Century. When twenty -seven groups are competing for first prize, there is sure to be good i entertainment in store; and there ■ was. The numbers varied from an old farm in Kentucky to the back- stage dressing room of the theatre. The students chose, prepared and presented their own numbers, so variety was the evening ' s key word. , The pictures shown on these pages are the winners of the evening with the Grand Prize being awarded to Chim, Chim, Cheree. Another project the Council took on this year was the March of Dimes. Seventy feet of dimes were collected, showing that these young people were capable of serving in such an honored capacity. Y-TEENS This group of girls meet to- gether twice a month for programs usually composed by some of their own members. This organization is interested in helping other people less fortunate than themselves. The Y -Teens accomplished their goals this year by collecting money for Christmas, making tray favors for hospital patients and giving an Easter egg hunt for the grades. These girls exemplify their theme of Christian fellowship. Hl-Y To create, maintain, and extend, throughout the school, home, and community, high standards of Christian Character, is the goal of the Lancaster Hi-Y Club. This year they again sponsored the drive for Christmas presents for the needy families in the area and many of the students in the school responded to their drive.
