Mr. Truman Eberly, enjoyed participating in and presenting several programs throughout the school year. The annual Christmas program, in which the girls' chorus had a major part. was presented on the afternoon of December 24. The girls' chorus and members of the girls' chorus presented numbers at both sessions of the Farmers' Institute. Another event of interest to the group was the County Music Festival at Wren School on March 3. The girls sang in the mass chorus. and presented individual numbers. Members of the chorus were keenly disappointed by the elimination of the Springfield and State Festivals from the school calendar. This, like many other things, was made necessary by the shortage of rubber. The chorus regrets the departure of several Senior girls who have served well during the past four years. 33

Still under the system adopted last year of applying for rather than appoint- ing positions on the Rocket staff, and with the splendid cooperation of Miss Mallory. Miss Alden. and their patrons. the members of the Rocket staff were able to produce eight issues of the Ridge Rocket during the nine months of the school term. At the beginning of the term a contest was held for the greatest number of subscriptions, the losing side giving a party in honor of the winners. Despite the great deal of effort and time required for each issue, there was always the deep satisfaction of just being one of the links that make up the chain. Because of the present world strife, we regret to say that the Ridge Rocket may be discontinued until the situation is again more favorable.
