Since the opening ofthe first school in Philadelphia at St. Alphonsus' parish. the Sisters have undertaken teaching in I8 dioceses and archtlioceses in the Unitetl States anti mission in Barrenquitas. Sister Mary Angels finds life quite husy with the Rambler. junior English and a homeroom of juniors, hut somehow she sponsors dances forthe paper and takes rharge of puhlirity for the Forensic League finals held this year at our sehool. Sister ofthe Hot Cross Founded in lie Mans. France. in 18-ll, hy the Very Reverend Basil Anthony Moreau. who had already under his care the Fathers and Brothers of lloly Cross. the Sisters of Holy Cross. dedicated as they are to Uur Lady of Sorrows, completed his Holy Family upon earth. ln I8-13. a small hand of the Sisters came to Indiana to do missionary work among the Indians. There in the loft of the little log chapel on the shores ol' the lake at Notre Dame. they took up in America the work destined for them hy God. Despite their pressing duties, the Sisters found. and still do find. time to sanctify themselves and those with whom they work. This they are pledged to do through their meditation: Mass and Holy Communion: daily visit to the Blessed Sacrament, which is the very center of their lives: the Little Ofhce of the Blessed Virgin. which they chant daily: spiritual reading: the reeitation of the rosary and the Seven Dolor heads, and through a weekly hour of adoration made for the interests of the entire community. This prayer comhined with their active work has made ol' the Con- gregation three separate eommunities in France. in Canada. and in the llnited States.
