For their thouglutfulness we thank lt's no soft jolt to kccp the cafeteria in perfect running condition. and to serve the meals promptly aml hot, hut somehow Mrs. Helen Kis- singer, and Mrs. Mary Hohenwarler manage to do it efficiently and pleasantly. Miss Patricia Sullivan makes up Ronald Zangari as Nihs in the senior play. Th la member For live years Ur. Joseph l.. lickenrorh-'s cheery smile has helped. along with his accurate nledical care and knowledge, to keep us well. Mrs. Esther Wiegand for years has been our visiting nurse, being at the school several days a week. V13 Bi lVlr. John Zuchva. School Custodian Not so long ago one of tts asked John if he were going to the Spring lVlusical. With a little laugh he said. 1 never miss anything. How true that is we all know. Ever since Catholic High moved to Ross- mere. John Zuchva has never missed an activity. We can always count on his he- ing there early to open the doors for school. the play or the concert: we never have to worry about locking up, for John always waits until we leave the building. lf a desk is broken, a window cracked: il' we need a hammer. a screw driver: John comes to the rescue. How many of tts know that every Sunday during the win- ter months while most of us are still sleeping, Jolm is at school putting coal in the stoker so that we can have heat on liver since Catholic High lirst began to cry in l028., Mr. Jacob Stein- baecher has been coming here several days a neck to direct the band and or- chestra. That is a debt of gratitude that can he paid only in eternity. It can't be the most pleasant job in the world to come here and look into the mouths of over live hun- dred students: we aren't so happy to have it done, either. Dr. John H. With this year's presentation, the senior play has reached new heights. The cast per- formed for four consecutive nights. each time before an enthusiastic audience. In addition to this success came the invitation from Millersville State Teacherls College to participate in Student Drama Night, which the cast readily accepted. Experience and extra knowledge were acquired in the form ofa warning directed against 4' breaking the asthetic distance il. Still more praise fol- lowed as a result of a short preview which was enacted before the WGAL television cameras. Indeed, under the able direction of Sister Miriam, C. S. C., the senior play has truly climbed the ladder and reached the success intended for it. Tom's det-eptiveness and versatility made him an vilunhle u o team and end The 1950-51 season was perhaps the most suc- cessful basketball season in the history of Lan- caster Catholic High School. After dropping the first game of the season, the Crusaders had a thirteen-game winning streak on the books. This was broken, however, in a game with Co- lumbia, the very team the streak had started with. The biggest upset of the season hap- pened when the Crusaders traveled to Reading Central and defeated them, 48-44. Perhaps the most exciting game of the season was the second game between Harrisburg Catholic and Lancaster Catholic. The Crusaders lost by a 50-48 score, the two-point difference being scored in the last remaining seconds of the game. Harrisburg went on to win the League championship after winning a play-OH' game with Lancaster. The Crusaders ended the season with a 17-5 record. Then the big surprise came. The Crusaders The first lI,H.S. basketball team ever to participate in a post-season tourna ment, although they won only one game, these Crusaders broke three records and carried back two trophies. lBack row. l. to r.P Manager Richard Yeager N.
