laura, In the fall of 1942 twenty four scared l1ttle troupers started thelr adventure 1n the Lanark Publ1c Grade School After elght years of struggl1ng they flnally moxed on to the Telev1s1on Studlos of Lanark Commumty Unlt H1gh School In thelr f1rst year they enrolled 1n the Lanark StUd1OS as Stagehands It was qulte a group of frlghtened Stage hands but they galned more polse as the year progressed Then came 1n1t1at1on It was an odd aggregatxon that came to school that day 1n the1r costumes of ffunny sacks old stocklngs over thler heads and large cardboard collars The1r Off1C ers for the year were R1chard Fllcklnger pres1dent Mary Brantner V1C9pI'SS1d6I1l1 Ronald Sturtz secretary and Margaret Stltzel treasurer The Student Counc1l representatlxes were Velma Amlmg and Qlentln Brown Mary Brantner relgned over the Flremens Ball and Margaret 5t1tzel was our cand1date for the Basket ball Queen By the second year 1n the Telev1s1on Studlos th1s group became Extras lust when they had become accustomed to th1s studlo they moved lnto a new loca t1on They soon adjusted themselves to the new school however The1r ofh ers for the sophomore year were QL1CY1t11'1 Brown presldent Rose Marle Read v1ce presxdent Ted Merchant secretary and Denny Ackermann treasurer The Stu dent Counc1l representatlves were Mary Brantner and R1chard Fhckmger Rose Marle Read was cand1date for both the F1remens Ball Queen and the Basl etball Queen In 1952 we f1nd our troupers as Un :1erstud1es real upperclassmen The1r otf1cers were Rxchard Fllcklnger presl dent Ted Merchant VICE presldent Denny Ackermann secretary and Mary Brant ner treasurer The Student Counc1l rep resentatlves were Rose Marle Read and Quentln Brown Donna Klmple was the nom1nee for the Flremens Ball Queen and Rose Marle Read was cand1date for the Basketball Queen They chose the1r class rlngs put on a prom sold maga zlnes and sponsored the Carroll County athlet1c banquet In Aprll the Undel stud1es produced UNCLE FRED FLITS BY a very successful comedy whlch was fun and strengthened thelr treasury as well In 1953 th1rty one semors entered the studlos of Lanark Communlty Un1t H1gh School as the Stars of the show They had worked hard to ga1n th1S t1t1e and tlnally they had reached lt The class of f1cers they elected were Denny Acker mann presldent Mary Brantner v1ce presldent James Pettlnger secretary and Quentln Brown treasurer Student Coun c1l representatlves were Rose Marle Read and Rlchard Fllcklnger They won the magazme sales selected p1ctures and pub llshed the yearbook The1r blg produc t1on DEAR RUTH was presented 1n No vember Mary Brantner was Homecom 1ng Queen and Loralne Kuhlemler was cand1date for the Flrernens Ball Queen and the Basketball Queen After belng guests of the Junlors at the Prom subst1tut1ng for the faculty on Semor Day and enjoylng a wonderful class tr1p they fmally left the Lanark Telev1s1on Studlos 1n May to go out 1n the world to play a bxgger role on a much larger stage to a much larger vxew 1ng audlence the world FORTY NINE , - 7 - 1 1 ' 1 - 1 1 ' 1 ' ' 7 . . . . . . . , , 1 - ca 11 . .
