Baaknfbal It was a record of 16 won, 10 lost for the varsity this year as Lanark ran into stiff opposition in both the Blackhawk and Carroll Conferences. The strongest compe- tition was our closest rival, Milledgeville, in the Carroll Conference and Mt. Morris in the Blackhawk Conference. Lanark finished second in the Carroll Conference and tied for second in the Blackhawk Conference. In the finals of the Carroll County Tourna- ment the Trojans of Thomson upset Lanark for the Championship. Major letter winners were Dick Miller, Bob Miller, Lawrence Derrer, Paul Butts, Loris Daws, Wayne Martin, Keith Gouker, and Ronnie Sturtevant. Bob Miller and Lawrence Derrer were elected honorary co-captains for the season. The Freshman-Sophomore team had a very successful season, recording 21 wins against just 2 losses. They were champions of the Carroll County Conference, Co- Champions with Mt. Morris in the Blackhawk Conference, and winner of the Carroll County Tournament. Minor letter winners were George Miller, Richard Flickinger, Duane Lotz, Byron Havvbecker, Rody Rahn, and Quentin Brown. FORTY-NINE
